THE MU MUSE | 4 T hanks to the pandemic, Mu Mu's 125-year anniversary was two years in the making; still, more than 200 brothers and guests agreed that the occasion was worth the wait. As one attendee said late Saturday night, "This event completely exceeded my wildest expectations." This sentiment was shared time and time again as people checked out of the hotel on Sunday. Kudos to the 125th anniversary committee for attending to every detail as seemingly nothing was overlooked. From the opening reception to the final banquet, no stone was left unturned. It truly was an exceptional event that left people wanting more! The Marriott Waterfront Hotel proved to be a spectacular venue as well. Some highlights of the weekend included: • Golfing on Friday and Saturday. • Optional tours of the Coliseum and Puskar Stadium, WVU Botanic Garden, and a bike ride along the waterfront rails-to-trail. • Friday night welcome reception from 4 p.m. to midnight. • Tours of the chapter house throughout the day on Saturday. • Saturday evening reception, group photo, and final banquet. • Mu Mu historical memorabilia display. • Silent auction of Mu Mu artifacts, artwork, and other fraternity "swag." The final banquet capped off the weekend in spectacular fashion. Close to 30 undergraduates joined their alumni brothers in celebrating Mu Mu, its history, our Sweethearts, and our brotherhood. Sigma Chi's 70th Grand Consul, Tommy Gettings Jr., South Carolina '85, and Grand Trustee Nathan Neal, George Washington '83 brought greetings from the General Fraternity, presented military service pins to all brothers who have "worn a uniform," and presented Significant Sig Awards to Brigadier General Michael E. McWilliams '92 and Thomas Menighan '74, retired CEO of American Pharmacists Association. The banquet concluded with the announcement of our upcoming capital campaign, For 700 North High: The Campaign for Mu Mu, by House Corporation President Paul Buechler '78, who was followed by Todd Sergi '96. Brother Sergi championed the need to restore the chapter house to its place of prominence on campus via our alumni stepping forward and recognizing that, "It's our turn now." He challenged attendees to help provide a chapter house as equally impressive as it once was to scores of brothers who joined the chapter after the house was completed in 1963. While it's too early to be definitive, as brothers checked out of the hotel, we repeatedly heard pleas to schedule another reunion or celebration once the capital campaign is completed where we can come together again to celebrate a beautifully restored chapter house. That idea continually gathers support—stay tuned! WORTH THE WAIT Brothers Celebrate 125 Years of Mu Mu Chapter Want to see more photos from our momentous 125th anniversary?
