SIGMA PHI EPSILON 2 Colin Anderson '23 Announced as Tragos Quest to Greece Scholar Guided by alumni mentors and university faculty, Tragos Quest to Greece Scholars study the influence that Greek philosophy, governance, and the arts have in everyday life. This is a highly selective and prestigious trip to Greece, awarded to SigEps who demonstrate great achievement. Colin was the perfect candidate for this program, as he was the former president of WA Alpha Chapter, is an electrical engineering major, and is well experienced in demonstrating SigEp values and aspirations. With help from Rob Jackson '11 and alumni, Colin was presented with his trip to Greece. The award presentation came as a delightful surprise for Colin, and receiving the trip amongst an audience of his brothers was a welcome bonus. SigEp Quesadillas WA Alpha Chapter's signature philanthropy, SigEp Quesadillas, was a massive success this spring. Year after year, quesadillas prove to be a perfect late-night snack for college students stressing over midterms. The guys had a great time advertising the philanthropy throughout Greek Row and whipping up quesadillas on the front lawn. With help from alumni and parent donors, SigEp Quesadillas raised $1,350! This money will go to Meals on Wheels, a program that delivers hot meals to homebound seniors who have trouble accessing food. If you would still like to donate, reach us on Venmo (@WSUSigep). Super Bowl Recruitment Event Our spring recruitment event took place on Super Bowl Sunday. Brothers took time clearing out the parking lot and replaced cars with couches. The grills were firing, bets were placed on the national anthem, and everyone was ready to meet potential new members. The vibes were good, and the event was a success. Rock Your World SigEp's new rock sensation, Bandards, is quickly gaining traction as a cover rock band along the Pacific Northwest. The band is composed of George Kelley '24 on vocals, Griffin Ayers '22 on guitar, Max Warnke '22 on sax and keys, Jared Holstad '22 on bass, and Evan Rodriguez '22 on drums. Coming together in November 2021, the band puts in Colin Anderson '23 receiving his Tragos Quest to Greece Scholars award. Brothers gathering for our Super Bowl Sunday recruitment event in the parking lot. SigEps enjoying our SigEp Quesadillas event while raising money for Meals on Wheels. Bandards is spending tons of time practicing for performances across the Pacific Northwest! A Busy Spring for SigEp Updates from Your Collegiate Brothers countless hours of practice while simultaneously handling their class workload and other extracurriculars. Their practice paid off when playing a show at Schweitzer Mountain Resort with a crowd consisting of many alumni. George described his experience playing in Schweitzer: "Best show I've ever played—crowd was fantastic, and the venue had their part locked down. I loved every second." The ceiling is looking very high for Bandards. They are planning a beach show in California over the summer, and they will definitely make many appearances at SigEp events this spring. The Mountains Are Calling… for Connor Hilts Connor Hilts '22 has been skiing for 17 years and first started racing at the age of 7. This made him a perfect fit for WSU's ski team, which competes in the Northwest Division of the United States Collegiate Ski Association. After a long break from racing, Connor was surprised to find he still had it. On February 12, he raced at Lookout Pass and placed third overall in the conference. In another race at 49 Degrees North Resort, he placed fifth. When asked about his experience racing for WSU, Connor responded: "It's been awesome! I used to ski race when I was younger, and it was nice to get back into it. The team was also full of great people that made it a really fun experience." His favorite memory of racing is celebrating his 22nd birthday at a race with his team. Balanced Man Scholarship Is Live! The Balanced Man Scholarship is offered every year to award men who have shown academic excellence, leadership skills, and a commitment to their health and well-being during their time in high school. Application information can be found on the WSU SigEp website, washingtonstate.sigep.org. Fraternally, Jacob Lofrese '24 VP of Communication jacob.lofrese@wsu.edu
