Vacation spot: Las Vegas Sports team: Seattle Mariners Hobby: Golf Michael Harbour '05 Secretary, Investment Committee Member, Vice President of Finance Mentor Michael is an actuary. He was inspired by volunteers like Ken Christianson '71, who believed in the active members when the Chapter and house were being rebuilt. He had the privilege of developing multi- generational friendships for life, and he now volunteers to help with steady growth in the quality of active membership and their Chapter experience. Michael's Favorites TV show: Lost Movie: Apollo 13 Food: Thai Vacation spot: Victoria, B.C. Sports team: Go Cougs! Hobby: Exploring with my young family Chris Mitchell '05 Vice President of Undergraduate Relations Chris is a senior professional services consultant at an SaaS company. He became an alumni volunteer because the Washington Alpha experience meant so much to him, and he wants to ensure future undergraduates have similar opportunities. SigEp taught him how to be a lifelong learner and to grow as a brother, leader, and mentor. Chris wants Washington Alpha to be recognized both on campus and nationwide amongst Sigma Phi Epsilon Chapters as one of the leading organizations in the country. He hopes operations continue to meet and succeed Buchanan Cup criteria for excellence, and he wants to grow the mentorship and volunteer base of the Chapter. Douglas "Dougie" Hansen '06 Vice President of Recruitment Strategy Dougie is a software tester. He volunteers for Washington Alpha Chapter to give back to the Chapter he loved during his undergraduate years, and he sticks to the "leave it better than you found it" mantra through his volunteer work. Sigma Phi Epsilon taught him to manage time effectively as well as how to work with many different personalities. Hobby: Backcountry skiing and alpine climbing WASHINGTON ALPHA 3 Meet the Board Joshua Palmer '06 President, Alumni Volunteer Corporation Joshua is an IT cloud professional. He saw becoming an alumni volunteer as a chance to give back to the Fraternity that taught him the value of great leadership, brought him everlasting friendships, and enhanced his college experience. Through SigEp, he stays connected to brothers and undergraduates to ensure the Chapter thrives and excels. Joshua wants to cultivate a world-class Fraternity experience and help Washington Alpha demonstrate leadership and success at WSU. He hopes to assist the Chapter with longstanding success in sustained membership, an enhanced living experience, and a commitment to continuously invest. Joshua's Favorites TV show: Yellowstone Movie: "Can't pick just one!" Food: Tri-tip steak Vacation spot: Hawaii Sports team: WSU Cougar Football Hobby: Salmon fishing and duck hunting Cliff Webster '70 Vice President of University Relations Chris is an attorney, and he became an alumni volunteer to help sustain the organization that had such a significant role in his development as an adult. Sigma Phi Epsilon was a source of lifelong friendships for Cliff, so he wants to help it grow and be among the top fraternities on campus. Cliff's Favorites TV show: Blue Bloods Movie: Seabiscuit Food: Bacon and eggs Vacation spot: National parks Sports team: WSU Football Hobby: Bicycling Ken Christianson '71 Vice President of Property Management Ken is a nurseryman. He became interested in AVC in 1997—one year before his oldest son started college at WSU. When the Chapter closed in 2003, he helped recruit a new AVC Board and initiate a $700,000 campaign to renovate the house and establish a scholarship fund. He wants to continue the SigEp legacy at Washington State University by maintaining one of the highest Chapter GPAs and memberships on campus. Sigma Phi Epsilon gave him the opportunity to meet amazing alumni leaders from across the country through the national organization, and he has been inspired by accomplishments of SigEps from many generations. Ken's Favorites TV show: Fox News Movie: "Not my pastime, but I do enjoy Harry Potter." Food: Thai and East Indian Vacation spot: Hawaii and Florida Gulf Coast Sports team: The Cougs! Hobby: Hiking and gardening Steve King '73 Treasurer Steve is retired and was asked by former Treasurer Rick Whitney '74 to get involved with volunteer work. He has great memories of good times and friendships developed through the Fraternity as well as long-term success and a comfortable retirement thanks to connections with fellow members.
