F or some men, the Delta Tau Delta experience is ever-present, beginning long before their collegiate years, guiding their undergraduate experience, and continuing for a lifetime after. Duncan Perry '84 was aware of the fraternity because his brother Erik Perry '74 had joined 10 years earlier. As he was considering his own undergraduate path at Cornell, he found himself drawn to ΔTΔ again because of friends from UHall 2 and the Big Red Marching Band, like Bob Geise '84, Scott Sumner '84, and Steve Colwell '84, who were going through recruitment at the same time. "I ended up getting bids from five houses, but I had the most in common with ΔTΔ. Don Phykitt '81 became my big brother. In the early '80s, Delts were leaders on campus in a number of fields, including electrical engineering, chemical engineering, and a number of student organizations." 4 DELTA TAU DELTA Cornell University P.O. Duncan would go on to hold many offices during both his collegiate and alumni years, such as chapter president while an undergraduate and later division president for the Eastern Division of Delta Tau Delta International as an alumnus. He also worked for International as a chapter consultant and for Cornell as the advisor for fraternities and sororities in the Dean of Student's office. His studies at Cornell earned him a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and another in history; he later returned to complete an MBA. Starting his career in finance at IBM, Duncan credits his time at Cornell and as a Delt for his successes in the corporate world. "As a manager and later an executive, I value those communications and people skills that I learned from working with my brothers both at Cornell and the 52 other chapters I worked with throughout North America." He currently holds the position of CFO for a fintech startup called Numerated. He is proud of the company's spot at #32 in the Inc. 5000. The brothers Duncan was drawn to all those years ago have remained a consistent part of his life since joining ΔTΔ. "I have been in Delta Tau Delta for 40 years now. Road trips with Delts to Boston and Toronto are among my best memories from college, but we make new memories every year as alumni get together for More Than a Brotherhood Duncan Perry '84 Cherishes Decades of Memories with ΔTΔ campus visits, golf outings, or just dinners on Saturdays." With brothers Henry Sanders '85, Alan Paez '88, and John Pirie '83, Duncan recently discovered a new hobby of road rallies. He has plans to join multiple brothers, ranging from at least seven graduate classes from the 1980s, in Florida in March for a golf trip that Jeff Katz '86 has been organizing for decades.
