3 DTD THE CORDELT As I prepare to head to campus for a Cornell- Harvard hockey game with Alan Paez '89, so many fond memories related to Cornell hockey and my Delt brothers come flooding back—camping out for tickets, Cassius Drake '91 playing the cowbell, Robert "Booger" Goldbaum '89 as the Big Red Bear, phys ed hockey class with Jeff Benensohn '90, going to Frozen Fours (pre-pandemic) with many of my fellow class of 1990 graduates (and in many years with many other Delt alumni) … I could go on and on. Brotherhood (and hockey) really do last a lifetime! That brings me to the Our Home, Our Legacy campaign. Thanks to all your outstanding efforts, our total pledges and contributions to date are over $2.37 million as of February. This is tremendous, as we have exceeded our initial goal and are well on our way to raising $2.5 million! Truly amazing, and I can't thank all the volunteers on the campaign board and the class and era leaders enough for all they've done in support of the campaign. As stated in the letter sent in December, we are hoping to start some smaller, self-contained projects this summer. Since that letter was written, we have continued to run into some challenges with "the way Cornell works," so it is unclear which projects will be designable this spring and deliverable this summer. Suffice it to say, we are in ongoing discussions, and we are still holding out hope that we can get something started this summer—even if the scope is smaller than what we had hoped. We are, in parallel, working on getting the potential projects bucketed into phases so we can get more of this moving with Cornell for next winter and summer. The other aspects we continue to work on with Cornell are the options for financing so that we can do the bulk of the work as one large project. While Cornell has acknowledged the need and desirability of some type of financing for our (and other) university-owned houses to allow them to be upgraded and maintained, we do not have anything definitive as of yet. Our House Corporation treasurer, Andrew Howlett '07, and I are continuing our discussions with Cornell, and I am confident we will get to the right level within the Cornell administration where they can translate talk into action. More information will be shared as it becomes available. Thanks again for everyone's efforts to get us to this point! I look forward to seeing many of you at Reunion Weekend and/or Homecoming 2022. Until then, stay safe and, as always, reach out to me with any questions. And Go Big Red!
