N o matter where in life he may be, Thomas E. Menighan '74 has always looked back at Sigma Chi with immense gratitude. "Those relationships have stood the test of time," Tom said. "Sigma Chi had a reputation for being a class act with brothers on professional paths and by having a great culture." Tom had great Mu Mu role models, including Sal Goodwin '71, Scott Meikle '73, Bob "Bomber" Beneke '71, Bill Kent '73, Tim Pahl '73, and Tom Bernhardt '71. He looks up to his Big, Bob Joy '71, and he tried to be just as good to his Little, Joe Wilson '74. "Fifty years later, many of my closest friends are the brothers I bonded with as a student," Tom said. "We just have a way of understanding each other without a lot of fuss." Giving back is the perfect way to show his gratitude to ΣΧ in Tom's opinion. He has been a regular supporter and volunteer of Sigma Chi and the Foundation, as their work to support high values among brothers is second to none in Greek life. "Our ongoing efforts to improve the chapter house are incredibly important to me, and I hope to our brothers," Tom said. "I want men who pledge Sigma Chi to have the same impression of our house that I did in 1970. We have work to do, but it's worthy and achievable." Tom's entire career was founded on the values he learned growing up in a small town: working hard, respecting others, and remaining humble. Most recently, he served as the executive vice president and CEO of the American Pharmacists Association in Washington before retiring in 2020. Today he is focused on reinventing his Specialty Pharmacy (as PursueCare) to provide stigma-free care to patients in recovery from Opioid Use Disorder. Tom was named a Significant Sig in March 2022. "In addition to PursueCare, I'm now engaged with the WVU School of Pharmacy as assistant dean for community engagement" Tom said. "I also serve on the boards of USP and Pharmacy Quality Solutions." From his Sigma Chi brothers to his family, Tom values every relationship in his life. His daughter, Caroline, is an emergency department nurse and is earning her fourth degree as a nurse practitioner. Many brothers may remember his sweetheart Jeanie, a Pi Phi who was his partner for over 25 years. Cancer afflicted her in 1977 and, due to complications years later, she passed. Tom remarried Bonny Skidmore Menighan and now resides in Annapolis, Maryland, with their nephew, Alex Earl. Tom enjoys connecting with friends, so don't hesitate to reach out to him at tmenighan@menighan.com. 3 | SIGMA CHI Consul Ryan Tweedy '22 Charleston, W.V. Pro Consul Will Dod III '23 Staunton, Va.
