Molly and her daughter, Abbie, stop to take a photo while visiting sisters at the chapter house. GAMMA PHI BETA 3 L ike many sisters before her, Molly Hayden Gold '85 came into college seeking a home away from home. Her parents moved to California the very next day after moving Molly into her dorm room at UNL, so she was eager to find her place on campus. Once she discovered Gamma Phi Beta, she knew she had found exactly what she was looking for. "I'm so very grateful to have been blessed with such a wonderful experience," Molly shared. She was inspired by sisters in Pi Chapter to become a better woman. "I learned so much from their unique personalities. What stood out the most was the commitment everyone shared to build something special. No matter what we were doing, we would do it well. I carry that with me still to this day." Gamma Phi Beta helped Molly understand what she could accomplish with the right mentality. When she became a mother, she marketed and sold a product called the GO MOM! Planner to help fellow moms keep themselves on track. "I licensed that product to a major manufacturer and, in doing so, discovered a love for consumer products," she said. This newfound passion led to Molly working with fortune 500 companies as a marketing contractor for the past 15 years. Molly advises marketing undergraduates to stay true to themselves and express their creativity. "Remember that your best work comes from the heart," she said. "Know the difference between personal perspective and who your brand really is." She applies this attitude every step of the way in her career today. Molly recently took a trip back to campus with her daughter, Abbie, who is considering UNL next year. "Leslie Gibbens Hefner '85 was a wonderful hostess, as she helped us arrange a tour of the chapter house," she said. "We attended a football game, had dinner with Carrie Ziegenbien-Gottsch '85, and spent an evening with my pledge daughter, Ann Gotch Warday '87." Molly hopes that Abbie's experience visiting campus may lead to similar lifelong memories. Long after college, Molly still keeps in touch with her Pi Chapter sisters. "We shared so many great times in college with the whole house in the old tube room watching Thirtysomething, socials, football Saturdays, and (of course) any time we had a pinning! I can honestly say that I count them as my dearest friends and will for life." Molly has been married for 32 years and has three children: Sam, Chris, and Abbie. Her family shares an athletic lifestyle and enjoys time outdoors, especially when traveling to the beach together.
