T h e EACON Spring 2022 B A L P H A T A U O M E G A • D E L T A K A P P A C H A P T E R B rothers from near and far gathered in Norman for the celebration of a lifetime. With over 125 alumni and guests as part of the 350 total in attendance, everyone was eager to celebrate 100 years of Delta Kappa during the centennial weekend of September 10-11. A diverse group of alumni attended, from recent graduates to alumni from the 1950s, including Gerald Van Nort '54. The weekend kicked off with cocktails and dinner at Embassy Suites Conference Center on Friday. The three-course meal and bar were a hit, and the evening was filled with brothers reconnecting and creating new memories. Bob Purgason '75, president of the Delta Kappa Alumni Association, did a great job as MC, introducing our special guest speakers, including Joe Harroz '86, president of the University of Oklahoma; Luke Santos '18, Worthy Master; and Wynn Smiley, CEO of ATΩ National Fraternity. The main event was a set by nationally known Delta Kappa Argus Hamilton '70, who is the host comedian of The Comedy Store in Hollywood, California. During his hilarious performance, Argus mentioned having been present at the 50th anniversary celebration of Delta Kappa in 1971 and meeting and talking with Clarence Matthew Sale 1921, the first initiate of Delta Kappa and its first Worthy Master. The party continued on Saturday, where alumni and actives gathered at the house for an alumni tailgate for Sooner football, an event that has become a Delta Kappa tradition. Many alumni were able to tour the new house at 1310 College for the first time, and a good time was had by all. Thank you to each and every alumnus who attended the centennial celebration weekend and made it worthwhile. We hope 2022 is a year full of reuniting within the brotherhood.
