I was honored to even be considered for this role, and as a 2008 initiate, I cannot help but feel that my experience with ΑΤΩ has truly come full circle. I have been fortunate to have had the unique perspective of seeing firsthand the extraordinary growth of the chapter since our rechartering in 2007. From signing my bid card in Kappa Hall with just nine others that fall to winning True Merit in 2010—for the first time since 1983 (a feat the chapter has now accomplished eight more times since)—to watching the construction of a new chapter house and seeing Delta Kappa develop into one of the largest chapters in the nation, my involvement continues to be a rewarding experience to this day. Delta Kappa has a long and storied history at the University of Oklahoma. The truth of the matter is that the chapter would not be where it is today without the support of the alumni association. While there are certainly too many alumni to thank individually, I would like to recognize and thank Bob Purgason '75, Greg Hall '70, Mike Carter '76, Stephen Hoelscher '74, Blake Herndon '79, and Mel Clark '70 for their steadfast leadership and friendship over the years. Their wisdom and guidance during the formative years of my undergraduate career has benefited me both personally and professionally over the last decade. I am thankful to have Bob, the outgoing president, stay on as an officer. The incoming vice president, Jack Stagg '16, also resides in Tulsa, and I look forward to working closely with each of them as we look to find ways to better serve our members. This year, we hope to plan a few events in the cities and states with large alumni contingents. One of the 2005 founding fathers once told me that he saw ΑΤΩ as "a place for men to pool their talents together in order to be successful in life," and I firmly believe the alumni association is uniquely positioned to carry out that vision. If you are interested in reconnecting with those in your area or getting involved with planning, please email us at atodkalumni@outlook.com. ΑΤΩ has given me a lot to be thankful for, so I am excited to have the opportunity to serve in this capacity. I look forward to meeting more of the brothers from our chapter in the years to come. Love and Respect, John Esche '08 Alumni Association President johnesche@outlook.com Honored to Serve ΑΤΩ A Word from New Alumni Association President John Esche '08
