During this time of refl ection, the priorities of life have a way of being sorted out. Many things that we have placed great value on just a few days ago suddenly lose their importance. This "sifting" of our life will give us an understanding of what is and what is not a true necessity of life. It is sad, but we often wait until we have no, or little time left on this earth before we make this evaluation. Oftentimes, we let the things we possess defi ne who we are, but all of that matters little when we face the actuality of death. We discover that the real value in life is connected to relationships. Regrettably, we may come to this awareness after we have sacrifi ced the most important things in life for objects that do not really matter. The Bible describes all the material possessions of a person's life as, "stuff" (Luke 17:31). We will learn that any signifi cance a certain item has in life will be connected to a relationship. The tangibles of life will be defi ned by the love we shared during our time on earth and our lasting legacy are the lives we have impacted. At the end of our earthly existence, we will never regret the time we spent with loved ones and the memories we made while doing so. All the rest of it will only be stuff.
