Alpha Chi Omega 3 A fter the craziness of our virtual year, we are finally back in-person at the chapter house! During the summer, I worked with the Alpha Beta Executive Board to make sure, when we arrived back to school, that we were ready for in-person events. As I write this letter, we are about five weeks into the school year, and I can promise you that we have been exceeding our own expectations. We started the fall semester by adjusting to a hybrid version of recruitment. Our vice president of recruitment, Lauren Willis '19, and vice president of recruitment information, Jasmin Warner '19, did a fantastic job implementing a hybrid recruitment plan. I am so proud of them and the rest of our fantastic recruitment team—we would not have recruited an incredible new member class without their hours of work. We are so excited to have welcomed 40 wonderful new members through formal recruitment and five through continuous open bidding. These women embody an inclusive mindset, ambition and kindness, and aspire for personal growth—exemplifying what it means to be Real. Strong. Women. These new members will go through our traditional new member education period and will complete diversity, equity and inclusion workshops, which include understanding different aspects of identity, microaggressions, implicit bias and much more. The last year has been a difficult one, and our priority right now is making our members feel supported and a part of our Alpha Chi Omega sisterhood. Movie nights, playing outdoor games, like cornhole and volleyball, and yoga have been common things to see out on the back patio. Additionally, we will be hosting Alpha Chi Yoga to raise money for the local YWCA to kick off our philanthropic contributions for the semester. Our members have not let the past year interfere with their ambition. They have already accomplished some incredible things, and we are so proud of them. To highlight just a few of the outstanding people in our chapter: Emma Goers '18 is a co-chairman for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Chapter at Purdue; Abby Sullivan '20 is on the Health and Human Sciences Student Council; Amanda Munsell '20 is on the Purdue Engineering Student Council; Caroline Rahrig '19 and Laura MacLafferty '19 just received their white coat from the School of Pharmacy; and Meena Mathur '19 just completed her term on the Student Orientation Committee for Boiler Gold Rush 2021. On behalf of the Alpha Beta Chapter, I would like to thank the advisors, the Alpha Chi Omega Home Corporation Board, headquarters staff, alumnae, parents and faculty who have continuously supported our chapter throughout these uncertain times. Our executive board and members could not have made it to where we are today without the endless support. On a personal note, I would like to thank the current collegiate members of Alpha Beta. They have been instrumental in my growth as chapter president, and I am eternally grateful. They have been patient, thoughtful and compassionate through this challenging time. I could not ask for better sisters to go through this together; they are the Real. Strong. Women. who I look up to.
