When Dan met the men at Beta Sigma Psi, it didn't take him long to see that he'd arrived at the place he was looking for. "Without a doubt, the skills I developed and values I strengthened during my time at Beta Chapter made me a better servant leader in my home, church, work, and community. I couldn't have gotten that or developed into the contributing adult I am anywhere else at Purdue or without my Beta Sig brothers," Dan said. "It gave me the life skills I needed in all dimensions of my life, not just the academic/professional realm. Also, the lifelong bonds I developed with my brothers pulled me through many difficult times in my life." Dan thoroughly enjoyed the abundance of group activities that Beta Chapter participated in, whether it was work sessions, serenading a sorority, or playing sports. The good times at Beta Chapter have rolled on for him as an alumnus as well. He's strengthened his lifelong bonds with his brothers by attending annual reunions, recent works sessions at the Chapter House, and serving on the Alumni Board. "It's not too hard to see that, now more than ever, our society needs good, Christian servant leaders in our homes, churches, and communities," Dan said. "Spending my time to do whatever I can to make sure there is a place where young men can develop into those leaders seems like maybe one of the most impactful things I can do right now." The Beta Sigma Psi leadership skills that Dan honed during his undergraduate experience have paid huge dividends throughout his career. Dan is proud to serve as the executive vice president of engineering, bidding, and business development for The Lane Construction Corporation. "Lane has more than 130 years of rich history as one of the nation's leaders in the engineering and construction of civil infrastructure," Dan said. "I've been blessed with the opportunity to work with some of the best engineers and construction professionals in the industry at one of the most exciting times in our industry. I thank God every day for that opportunity." Dan's dedication to his work hasn't gone unnoticed either. His career accomplishments include being named a distinguished graduate at Purdue and his graduate alma mater, the University of Texas. "Knowing that those institutions thought enough of my contributions to the engineering and construction industry to recognize me in that way means the world to me," Dan said. While Dan is proud of the success he's achieved during his career, there's no question that his greatest blessings are his son, Austin, and daughter, Daniele. Dan also has no shortage of role models between his big sister, Laurie, who just retired after teaching 40 years at the same Lutheran school in southern Illinois, and of course, his successful Beta Sigma Psi brothers.
