many hands, one heart 2 Built to Last Committee Outlines new Lofty Goals (Continued from page 1) To facilitate our goals, we have created a BTL website, adphibuilttolast.com, that is powered by Shopify. is site enables you to make donations to support general or specific initiatives. is can accommodate naming opportunities for individuals or groups (for example: your pledge class, graduating year, or high school) to sponsor a study/living room or a common area such as the game room, gym, a large room for presentations, and social gatherings. Many other opportunities are also available for donors to support Chapter room, dining room, or living room amenities, digital archives, furniture, and other items of interest. Sponsorship will provide the funds to completely outfit a specific room with all needed furnishings on day one. One initiative that has attracted a lot of attention is the Buy a Brick for Built to Last fundraiser for imprinted bricks on the front walkway into the Temple. ere are a lot of different opportunities, which can be found on our BTL social media and website. Sponsorship opportunities for rooms come with naming rights for specified periods of time, generally 10 or 15 years, depending on the type of room or item(s). Sponsorship is an excellent way for an individual or group of alumni to recognize or honor a person(s), an event, or something else that is memorable to them from their years at Alpha Delta Phi and beyond. We are also looking for major donors who are willing to provide matching funds, as we have found that to be an excellent way to supercharge our initiatives. e BTL Committee is always looking to expand its membership, including class or era captains, so feel free to reach out to us if you are looking to invest your talents and time. Xaipe, Brad Furber '86 Campaign Co-Chairman (206) 973-3242 | brad.furber.sr@gmail.com Bob Gilbert '81 Campaign Co-Chairman (206) 708-3424 | robert.gilbert@ricoh-usa.com W e've made great progress on the construction of the new Chapter House. Framing of the new addition is virtually complete and roofing commenced in May. Framing is also complete in the old building. e electrical rough-in is nearly complete in the old portion of the Chapter House with plumbing rough-in in the new addition also wrapping up. Fire sprinkler and HVAC work is also underway. Our next major milestone was delivery of all windows at the end of May. Installation started immediately, getting us one step closer for the entire building to be enclosed and dried-in. Kitchen equipment ordering has begun with all other procurement activities tracking per the schedule. We have managed to escape the lumber price increases through early ordering. Fortunately, we've also escaped other supply chain and pandemic-related impacts prevalent across the construction industry thus far. While the construction has gone well, we have had numerous issues with our 100-year-old building in terms of added cost related to the brick, wood structure, and unstable soils. ese issues have caused an accelerated use of our budgeted contingency and the further needs for the additional fundraising being sought by the Built to Last Committee. ese contingency costs in addition to the furniture and technology costs add roughly $600,000 to $700,000 to our fundraising target. Substantial completion for the construction activities is planned for January 2022 with furnishings and other installations to follow. Expected occupancy is scheduled for the 2022 winter quarter.
