Pacific Northwest Alumni of Washington Chapter of Alpha Delta Phi University of Washington P.O. Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address Service Requested Washington Alpha Delt Washington Alpha Delt e e I am proud to serve as an Alpha Delt recruitment chairman along with Scott Calahan '22 and eo Covich '23. We have all experienced the myriad benefits that Alpha Delt has to offer potential pledges, which makes the recruitment chairman position exciting and a great opportunity to give back to the fraternity we love. As if an $8 million remodel wasn't enough, our brotherhood, our new in-house golf league, and our high GPA make Alpha Delt the most well-rounded house in the Greek system. We've been fortunate enough to already meet some of the prospective pledges you have sent our way and would appreciate it if you could keep recommending them so we can add quality young men to our system. Since we now have the capacity to support a pledge class of 30-35 members, your recommendations are especially helpful and important to the success of the Chapter. While we have a lot going our way this year, there are still some unique challenges that are presented while living in a rented Delta Upsilon house and dealing with ongoing COVID-19 restrictions set by the IFC. As of the publication of this newsletter, we are limited to a virtual recruitment, which includes Zoom sessions, online poker nights, and the occasional food delivery. If this sounds like playing a ballgame with the mitt on the wrong hand and one leg tied to the opposite arm, you'd be pretty close. e point is, now more than ever, we need alternative locations and activities (within the IFC's imposed COVID-19 constraints, which are rumored to change over the Summer) and we could use the help of our alumni. Whether or not you live in the Seattle area, we would love to hear from you if you can provide out-of-house sites and activities where we can bring one or maybe a few potential pledges to this Summer. Some things that might be of use to us are golf course memberships, boats, season tickets for Seattle sports team, or cabins. Anything that you think could be an asset to recruitment would be greatly appreciated by the active Chapter. Our brotherhood truly is built to last, and we wouldn't be doing our job if we didn't raise our expectations for future pledges. However, this effort will require alumni support like never before. We thank you all in advance! Xaipe, Tucker Loin '23 (602) 820-2410 Alumni Support Needed for Summer Recruitment Going the Distance Undergraduate Brothers Host Walkathon for Stanley Stamm Summer Camp D ue to COVID-19 safety restrictions, we couldn't host our annual Bubble Bash auction. However, the men of Alpha Delta Phi came up with an alternate solution. Starting on May 2, we embarked on our first walkathon in support of Stanley Stamm Summer Camp through our guild with Seattle Children's Hospital. Each August, Stamm Camp gives nearly 100 children with chronic medical conditions a chance to go fishing, ride horses, and partake in various other camp activities during a week-long sleepover located near Mt. Rainier. To raise money for the cause, we reached out to family and friends for sponsorships of dollars per mile. Members then walked or ran as much as they could within the week to raise money for Stamm Camp. Some standout Brothers took the lead and started the week off strong. Sam Levin '21 and Brooks Lierle '22 each ran a half marathon in support of Tommy McCoy '22 who ran a full marathon. Two of the freshman class, JJ Swanson '24 and Jacob Tobias '24, ran more than 50 miles over the course of the week. Brother Swanson logged the most mileage in the Chapter with 58 miles. As a Chapter, we walked and ran more than 800 miles and raised more than $7,000 in family, friend, and employer donations. With the support of alumni donations, we raised more than $12,000 for the Stanley Stamm Summer Camp. e chance to donate isn't over yet either. If you can donate, we would appreciate your donations to the Bubble Bash Foundation, our Seattle Children's Hospital Guild, where your donation will go to Stanley Stamm Summer Camp. Since we couldn't host Bubble Bash auction, we would appreciate any and all donations to the Guild. For more information on Bubble Bash, Stanley Stamm Summer Camp, or to donate, please visit bubblebash.org.
