As we lived there, studied there, had fun there, and grew up there, it became the foundation for a lifetime of friendships, contacts, opportunities, and great memories. We all benefited in many ways from our time in the chapter and many of us firmly believe it helped form who we are today. And after 52 years, the iconic chapter house needs a renovation and modernization after very limited capital improvement for five decades. It is our honor and privilege to formally announce to you the Building on Ron Reeves' Legacy Campaign to fund a major renovation of the chapter house that was named for longtime chapter advisor, mentor, and brother Ron Reeves '58. For the last 18 months, a team of alumni has dedicated its time and resources to develop a comprehensive plan for the house and a strategy to bring those plans to reality, building on the fundraising that took place in 2017-2019. Through careful evaluation of the capability of our alumni during a 2020 feasibility study, we have set a goal of raising $3M from alumni for the renovation project. With construction bids having now been received, the construction costs for the project are estimated at $2.75M. Additionally there are costs for engineering & design, construction management, construction loan interest, and project support costs. When the project is complete, we also plan to have a maintenance endowment to fund future needs. To ensure that we are able to cover all the additional project costs the Chapter made an early commitment to the project and will continue to provide financial support throughout the campaign. The Chapter will then take a new mortgage at the end of the campaign, bringing their share of the funding to 20- 25% of the total. Financial support from alumni will determine the extent to which we can fulfill this vision. To date, we have received commitments of more than $2 million in generous lead gifts from brothers toward our goal! The campaign is about more than renewing the Gamma Gamma chapter house. This is about the renewal of a chapter to ensure we leave a lasting legacy. The campaign includes not only physical renovations, but also improvement in our alumni relations process, greater involvement of alumni in the chapter going forward, and better funding and processes to maintain the house post-campaign for decades to come. The chapter has remained strong by building character, scholarship, and leadership. It has consistently maintained a sound financial footing and has persevered during an unprecedented pandemic. Today, actives and many alumni have committed personally and financially to the future of our chapter, and we invite you to be part of that legacy. In the coming weeks, you will receive additional information detailing our plans for the renovation project and the ways in which you may help. We need support from all our brothers for the chapter to stay competitive and provide a quality, modern living environment that reinforces our history and reputation. Your support will ensure the powerful and lasting impact of the Gamma Gamma experience on the lives of hundreds of future young men attending Rose- Hulman. We are immensely grateful to the brothers who have helped in the early stages of this campaign and to the brothers who have so generously contributed lead gifts toward this effort. Please join us in honoring the brotherhood, camaraderie, support, and opportunities this wonderful fraternity provided us—and make that same wonderful experience possible for generations to come.
