the lyre letter XI CHAPTER OF ALPHA CHI OMEGA | UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-LINCOLN | SPRING 2021 H appy 2021, Xi Chapter sisters! I think it's safe to say we are all relieved to have 2020 behind us, as the COVID-19 pandemic challenged all of us in ways we never could have imagined. The same is certainly true for our sisterhood, our chapter, and our House Corporation Board. On a positive note, the challenges we have faced over the past year have also opened the door to new opportunities, changing the way in which we collaborate and conduct HCB business. Early in the pandemic, we quickly realized we were going to need to meet more frequently and virtually to navigate such unchartered territory. Thankfully, the situation stabilized enough with the new school year to allow us to transition to a virtual, monthly meeting cadence. As we look forward, our focus will be on expanding our House Corporation Board, filling open roles, and ensuring we have appropriate succession plans in place. With that, we will also be enhancing our alumnae and chapter relations while also improving our chapter house itself. We would love to have YOU join our board if you have any interest in volunteering your time, leadership, and/or professional expertise! We could particularly use sisters in the areas of accounting and finance, as well as marketing and communications. With our meetings now fully virtual, we have removed a major barrier for involvement––location no longer matters. As for our chapter house, we will be focused on structural improvements this summer––with our second and third floor bathroom renovations targeted for summer 2022. This will ensure we have ample time to plan, prepare, and fundraise for such an exciting enhancement next year. In closing, I ask each of you to reflect on what you can give––whether that be in the form of time, talents, or treasures. For those wanting to get involved with the board, I invite you to contact me directly by phone call, text, or email. We meet one Sunday a month from 8-9 p.m. via Zoom. I look forward to hearing from you! Loyally in the Bond, Kristen Onkka '05 House Corporation Board President (402) 981-3184 konkka@huskers.unl.edu How Can You Help Xi Chapter?
