M
y name is Makayla O'Hara '19, and I serve as the vice president of
intellectual development for Xi Chapter. I am a sophomore studying
international business at UNL, and I am honored to hold an executive
position within Xi. Since the officer transition, my days have been filled
emphasizing academic excellence. This has been accomplished through:
• Congratulating all members who excel academically.
• Hosting a recognition ceremony for members who achieve a GPA above
3.5. Each honoree is given a celebratory door hanging and facial mask to
publicize their achievement.
• Collaborating with the members who need additional support academically.
My goal is to support the development of each member's collegiate goals.
I want all of my sisters to be prepared for the real-world interviews and job
opportunities that come after college. During my freshman year as a new
member, I enjoyed connecting with alumnae, and I hope that my sisters can
also network with Alpha Chis.
To strengthen the chapter's relationship with alumnae, I am creating a mentor
program where the women of our chapter can reach out to alumnae with careers
similar to their interests. It is common for active members to be uncertain
about career paths after graduation. By fall 2021, I would like to have every
active member paired with at least one alumna who can advise their future
professional goals.
If you have any interest, please contact me via email at vpid2021@gmail.com
with your name, phone number, and profession. I look forward to speaking
with you.
