T h e EACON Spring 2021 B A L P H A T A U O M E G A • D E L T A K A P P A C H A P T E R O n March 25, Delta Kappa brothers nationwide celebrated our chapter's 100th anniversary in spirit. As we look forward to establishing our "new normal" in a post-pandemic world, the Delta Kappa Alumni Association is excited to welcome alumni back to Norman for our belated centennial celebration on Friday and Saturday, September 10-11, 2021. Alumni Association President Bob Purgason '75 is optimistic about holding a safe event by football season, based on promising vaccination rates. "If something comes up, we'll be flexible," Bob explained, "but the consensus is that we'll be able to hold a safe event. OU is planning on full capacity for game days, and we'll be prepared to adapt as required." There is much to look forward at this historic celebration! As with a traditional annual gathering, the main event at Embassy Suites (at 6 p.m. on the 10th) will feature updates from the local and national fraternity. Following that, the festivities will kick off with a speech and comedic performance by Delta Kappa's own Argus Hamilton '70. The three-course dinner will cost $65 per person, and a cash bar will be available; first round is on us for every alumnus and guest! Then, on Saturday the 11th, we look forward to gathering at the chapter house for a Delta Kappa tailgate before the OU football game (times TBA). We can't wait to welcome our alumni back home! Bob also hopes the various class and era groups will enjoy their own group festivities around the main events on Friday and Saturday. For example, his initiation class of '75 will celebrate their 45th anniversary, having postponed the festivities last year. "This will be a great opportunity to enjoy fellowship and celebrate our brotherhood's impact over 100 years," Bob said. "Coming off the heels of the lockdown makes it even more exciting to see everybody again." MORE INFO: All alumni and active members of Delta Kappa are invited to attend and may bring a guest.
