DAILY NEWS RED BLUFF TEHAMA COUNTY THE VOICE OF TEHAMA COUNTY SINCE 1885 Mineral School House Rocks Having lived in Mineral a number of years ago, I worked with my teacher friend, Jane, at Mineral School. The desire to attend Mineral School's Spring Program this year tempted me to join the School Graduation on Wednesday, May 29. I was spending some time at my mountain cabin so the time was perfect. Jane arrived and we sat together. Mineral teacher and assistant taught eight students, two of the girls were honored, one graduating to high school and one graduating from Kindergarten. There appeared to be a large number, in the count of about fifty plus adult attendants in the room, as we who were in the audience we listened to the most entertaining musical presentation given by all of the students. The fantastic music was extremely outstanding with every child presenting one of the most musical programs I have ever visited. The program began with "The Star Spangled Banner," with everyone participating. The name of the program was "School House Rock" There were 16 Medleys, listed in order: Kum Ba Yah, A-Goong Went Free classes are held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the Tehama County Police Activities League Martial Arts Center for Excellence, 1005 Vista Way, Suite C, second roll up door, next to the Red Bluff Airport. PAL and Alternatives to Violence (ATV) have been partnering in this effort, which the groups began discussing it in late November, in late January. PAL Martial Arts began in September 1998 as an anti-bullying, anti-drug, alcohol and tobacco program for youth ages four through completion of high school. It's been on-going year round for nearly fifteen years. Thousands have joined but only thirty-one have completed requirements for black belt grading. Call the instructor at 840.0345 as enrollment is limited and a waiting list has been established. Qualified instructors are encouraged to apply as a volunteer with PAL. All PAL programs are free. Visit www.tehamaso.org for PAL or call 529-7950. The instructor' web page is located at www.endbully.com.
