3 DTD THE CORDELT A fter having our semester together cut short in the spring, the Delts of Beta Omicron were excited to be back in the Shelter. A full semester during a pandemic, however, meant many changes needed to be made to the ways in which we operated as a chapter. Nonetheless, we were able to persevere through it all. Prior to the fall semester, a group of actives and alumni worked together to tackle these changes to ensure the Delts could safely enjoy the Shelter on campus. The committee (led by Luke Zabinski '16 and composed of Matt Frucht '21, Stephen Tse '21, Brandon Stein '21, Bryce Roth '22, Jack Thompson '73, Andy Wolfers '16, John Salvagno '16, Alex Fortgang '14, and myself) developed an intensive plan that included everything from move-in to how the kitchen and meal service would operate. Some significant changes included chapters being held on Zoom, Chef Ryan individually packaging meals for brothers to pick up, stocking the Shelter with ample amounts of hand sanitizer, and developing health guidelines that the brotherhood bought into. All of this culminated in ending the semester without a single Delt contracting COVID-19 or being identified in contact tracing. Thank you all who helped to ensure the wellbeing and success of our brothers this semester! For the first time ever, the IFC ran a virtual recruitment that involved meeting prospective members through Zoom calls, then being able to meet them in person in groups no larger than 10. Despite much lower numbers participating in recruitment this semester, we were still able to welcome two great new members: Emerson Smith '23 and Xihang Wang '23. They have already brought a lot of energy to the brotherhood and we're looking forward to their contributions in the future. We're also excited to welcome our new 2021 executive board: President - Bryce Roth '22 VP - Anthony DeArmas '22 Treasurer - Ryan Begin '23 Recruitment - Yancee Mendoza '23 Socials - Bo Paruvangada '22 and Ben Wootton '22 SAA/Risk Manager - Alex Breitenbach '23 DAA - Ben Feldman '22 Secretary - David Wolfers '23 Thank you to the 2020 executive and administrative boards for putting in so much work and effort to lead the chapter through these tumultuous times, and congrats to the incoming executive board! With respect to events, it was disappointing to not be able to interact with the alumni at the Shelter during Homecoming. Be that as it may, we were able to hold a virtual Homecoming thanks to the work of Jeff Catalano '09, Dan Morton '21, and Michael Bonacum '10. This involved more Zoom calls—one in the morning for the annual House Corporation meeting, and one in the evening where we broke into smaller rooms for alumni and actives to reconnect despite not being physically together. The Saturday morning House Corporation meeting was the largest one that we have had in a long time, and it was great being able to see such great turnout despite the circumstances. Thank you to everyone who joined us for a great time! Finally, as my presidential term ends, I'd like to take this chance to thank everyone who helped the chapter and myself work through the pandemic. You've been by our side through it all, and the lasting bonds between actives and alumni play a vital role in setting the chapter apart from others on campus. The fact that we have been able to survive and thrive through this pandemic is a testament to the strength of our brotherhood, and I'm thoroughly proud to be a Delt—especially a Beta Omicron Delt. It has been an honor to lead the longest continuously recognized chapter on the hill, and I'm looking forward to the day when all of us can be back in the Shelter together.
