Beta Omicron Announces $2 Million Capital Campaign THE CORDELT BETA OMICRON CHAPTER OF DELTA TAU DELTA AT CORNELL UNIVER SI T Y WINTER 2021 F or over 130 years, the Beta Omicron Chapter has built generations of exceptional men at Cornell. When we look back on our own experiences in the chapter, the countless memories and forged friendships remind us of the truly irreplaceable experience we shared. At the center of this experience was our Shelter. While our Shelter has remained largely unchanged since it was built 55 years ago, Greek life at Cornell has evolved, with large renovations completed at other fraternities and the university investing in ever- expanding student housing options. While we each know our Delt experience was largely defined by the brotherhood, we cannot deny the role our Shelter plays in recruiting and retaining brothers. Our Shelter is overdue for improvements that reflect the long-term strength and resiliency of our chapter. Evaluating the long-term needs of Beta Omicron and our members has been at the forefront of our minds, with safety, livability, energy-efficiency, academics, and recruitment being key focuses. Alumni and undergraduate Beta Omicron leadership has worked with a leading architecture firm to develop a facility master plan to address the long-term viability of the Delt experience at Cornell. Through careful study and assessment, we've determined a comprehensive renovation of the Shelter is necessary and that the time to act is now. To this end, we are excited to announce the Our Home, Our Legacy capital campaign. This campaign is needed to support the necessary renovations to our home at Cornell that will: • Improve the curb appeal of the Shelter, including the replacement of all the Shelter's windows. • Enhance the livability of the structure, including the renovation of all common areas on all levels, the renovation of all the bathrooms, and many other interior improvements. • Improve the energy-efficiency of the Shelter, decreasing annual operating costs by 10-15% by upgrading outdated systems, including the steam heating, plumbing, and electrical. The House Corporation has formed a multi-generational capital campaign committee and stands ready to take on this vital project, but we cannot do it without you! Early commitments from more than 70 alumni have already raised over $1.6 million. This is an impressive start, and now we need your assistance to reach our campaign goal of $2 million. In the coming weeks, you will receive additional information detailing the project, the campaign, and ways in which you can help. OUR HOME OUR LEGACY Campaign Status At-a-Glance As of January 7, 2021 Campaign Goal: $2 Million Total Commitments: $1,657,109 Total Contributors: 77 I ask that you take some time to reflect on your Delt experience, remembering the impact this brotherhood made on you, and to imagine how the next generation of Delts at Cornell will be impacted by what we do now. Beta Omicron has given each of us an irreplaceable experience— it is our duty to honor our membership and invest in the future of Delta Tau Delta at Cornell.
