Since you don't live nearby, her selfishness should be manageable in small doses on rare occasion. Please try. Dear Annie: Thank you for printing the letter from ''A Father Who Knows.'' My 9-year-old son is legally blind and has epilepsy. He is often quiet and withdrawn, and leaving the house with him can be quite a task. He is impulsive and often says and does inappropriate things in public. We continually work with him. I thought I was the only parent who could possibly understand what was going on with my son. Local businesswoman meets with LaMalfa's staff in DC Rose Hablitzel, EA, a Red Bluff businesswoman, met with Congressman Doug LaMalfa's staff member Kevin Eastman on May 8 in Washington, DC to discuss important issues affecting taxpayers. Hablitzel holds the Enrolled Agent (EA) designation from the US Department of the Treasury. Enrolled Agents are the only federally-licensed tax practitioners who specialize in taxation and have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS. "I was greatly encouraged by my visit with Rep. LaMalfa's Legislative Director Eastman," Hablitzel said, "Many of the provisions in the current tax code are not permanent, making it difficult for both businesses and individuals to develop annual plans that allow them to lower their tax burden through smart tax strategies. I was also glad for the chance to focus attention on tax return preparer oversight. It doesn't make sense that barbers and beauticians are regulated but return preparers are not." By personally calling on the Washington office of LaMalfa, Hablitzel participated in a true grass roots effort to promote the tax preparer profession and protect the American taxpayer. Hablitzel's visit to Capitol Hill was part of the "Fly-In Day," an annual event developed by the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) to educate legislators about issues affecting tax return preparers and obstacles preventing the tax code from being fairly applied and reasonably enforced. As a member of NAEA, Hablitzel must adhere to a code of professional conduct and meet annual continuing education requirements that surpass those established by the IRS. The National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) is a nonprofit professional organization dedicated to representing, promoting and enhancing the enrolled agent profession – powering American's tax experts. To find an EA in your area, go to the "Find an EA" directory at www.naea.org. An Independently owned and operated Member of Coldwell Banker Residential Affiliates.
