3 D espite numerous setbacks due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Gamma Gamma Chapter has upheld our reputation as a diverse brotherhood of scholars, athletes, campus leaders, philanthropists, and successful members of the STEM workforce. The chapter was awarded our 24th True Merit Award for the 2019-20 academic year, in part for our exemplary efforts to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.095. Two brothers, Thomas Hoevener '22 and Tretter Lyons '23, have maintained a cumulative 4.0 GPA as of the beginning of this fall. Our chapter remains a learning community where brothers are always available to support those in need of academic assistance. While all brothers are academically focused, many are involved in various sports, clubs, and organizations around campus to pass what little free time us Rose- Hulman students have. In our chapter, we have representation on the varsity football, soccer, track, swimming, and golf teams, as well as countless brothers partaking in intramural sports every quarter. Beyond sports, brothers hold many leadership positions on campus, including ASME president, SGA senator, student body vice president, LEAD advisory board member, IEEE president, vice chairman of IEEE, Barbell Club president, and ROTC. Our philanthropy events in the spring were unfortunately canceled, but we had a successful 24-hour gaming live stream that raised more than $3,500 for Riley Hospital for Children in the fall. We also teamed up with Big Brothers Big Sisters to throw a Christmas party for less fortunate kids in the Terre Haute area. This year, we plan on completing multiple 24-hour gaming live streams to raise money for charities while following local social distancing guidelines. The COVID-19 pandemic is certainly bringing challenges to fraternities and sororities across the country. Here at Rose-Hulman alone, two fraternities have been required to quarantine due to contact tracing. Diligent mask wearing and everyday sanitizing has helped our chapter maintain zero positive cases since returning to campus. Perhaps the most difficult changes to adapt to, however, are those regarding recruitment. Potential new members are only allowed in the house during informal and second formal rounds, and the number of potential new members in both the chapter house and brothers' cars is limited. Although these changes seemed difficult to adapt to at first, we have done an excellent job adjusting thus far. We look forward to another successful, but socially distanced, academic year at the Gamma Gamma Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega.
