2 Lambda Lamp housing corporAtion AnD AluMni AssociAtion WelcoMe neW leADership Focused on Setting Brothers Up for Success in Years to Come O n October 17, the Chapter held elections for officers for the Housing Corporation and the Alumni Association. I would like to take time to recognize and honor the hard work and dedication of Brother Rob Sutton A∆ 1158 in his leadership through the last three years as president of the Housing Corporation. Rob brought us through the rededication of the new house through numerous reorganizations, structural and financial changes, to the strong organization we have today. He spearheaded the new Alumni Association which, by its creation, will help strengthen the bond between the undergraduate Chapter and the many alumni throughout the world. We are very fortunate that Rob has agreed to stay on as vice president of the Housing Corporation to provide his wisdom to the new members. In addition, Dave Akers A∆ 892 will be our new treasurer and Dan Stanglein A∆ 729 will be our new secretary. We will also have two directors at-large: Bob Berry A∆ 732 and an open position. If anyone is interested in being director at large, please contact me. We are fortunate to have a new house and a strong financial position for the Chapter. We also recognize numerous changes that the house is facing in the coming semesters. These challenges will put additional strain on the brothers and our overall financial footing. We are confident we have a plan to address these challenges but will be reaching out to everyone for additional support in future fundraising. These fundraising efforts will be focusing on providing the members grants and scholarships based on the work they do in supporting the house and the brotherhood. We believe this program will help rebuild memberships while improving the quality of life for its members. When the foundation reaches out, we hope you are able to help. The Alumni Association also has new leadership, led by President Brad Georgen A∆ 1339, Vice President Stape Crutchfield A∆ 1403, Treasurer Zach Buhr A∆ 1394, and Secretary Steve Van Hoose A∆ 1240. The new team will help strengthen the undergraduate Chapter and its relationship with the alumni. Yours in ZAX, Steve Szymanski A∆ 788 President, Housing Corporation • email The Brothers of Alpha-Delta Zeta Need Your Support! T he brothers of Alpha-Delta Zeta thank you for your support of the capital campaign to renovate and modernize our Chapter House at 1705 Pine. Three years after the completion of that project, the alumni are restarting our fundraising efforts with opportunities to contribute for every brother of all means. Brothers, please consider contributing to one of the following funds, each supporting a different aspect of the Lambda Chi Alpha experience. Alpha-Delta Alumni-Student Education and Loan Fund As the primary fund for the Alpha-Delta Zeta Housing Corporation, contributions to Alpha-Delta Alumni-Student Education and Loan Fund go directly toward the expenses associated with operating the Alpha- Delta Chapter House, including mortgage payments, taxes, insurance, and maintenance that arises over time. While the Housing Corporation is in good financial standing, your contributions will further bolster that position and help to provide a buffer for unexpected circumstances, like the COVID-19 pandemic and disruptions to house occupancy like those experienced in 2020. These contributions are not tax deductible, but go directly to the long-term health of the Housing Corporation and our ability to maintain a top-tier house for our brothers. Alpha-Delta Zeta Scholarship, Educational, and Endowment Foundation The Foundation is a tax-deductible 501(c)(3) organization focused on educational grants to the brothers of Alpha-Delta Zeta and improvements to the educational portions of the Chapter House. Originally founded to enable tax-deductible giving for the Chapter House capital campaign, the Foundation has transitioned into the role of granting scholarships to brothers based on need and merit, as well as providing grants to the ADZ Housing Corporation to offset the educational portion of ongoing expenses. The Foundation and Housing Corporation are in the process of developing a scholarship program to award undergraduate brothers who serve as Chapter officers and excel in meeting their goals in those offices. Your contribution is 100% tax deductible; however, situations will vary by individual as to the impact to individual income taxes under new tax laws governing itemization. Alpha-Delta Alumni Association The final giving category supports the newly formed Alumni Association. Your contributions to the Alumni Association go toward alumni communication, as the regular newsletter will transition to Alumni Association responsibility, as well as subsidizing brotherhood events in Rolla and across the country, as the association grows over time. The Housing Corporation has generously agreed to $3,000 of seed money to begin the Alumni Association, but as a separate entity, the Alumni Association must raise their own funds to develop and maintain programming focused on post-collegiate brotherhood involvement. Your contributions to the Alumni Association are not tax deductible, but are appreciated in an effort to build better alumni engagement with one another and the undergraduate brothers. We are exploring the options for giving, including opportunities to do so online. For the moment, send your contributions via check to: Alpha-Delta Zeta Alumni • P.O. Box 175 • Rolla, MO 65402-0175 Please make your contribution payable to either the Foundation, Housing Corporation, or Alumni Association.
