A. Year. 2020 was one for the books. Although filled with plenty of challenges, it has allowed your Alpha-Delta Chapter at 1705 N. Pine Street to be tested and become stronger. A quote I hold near and dear to my heart is, "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." If that doesn't sum up the demeanor of your brothers in Rolla, I don't know what else does. We have gotten off the beaten path and created trails for our brothers behind us to follow. Our brothers have dealt with situations in the last 10 months in which others have never had to endure in their undergraduate careers. COVID-19 has tossed all of our worlds upside down, and challenged everyone. I am extremely proud of the adaptability of our brothers and members. They have been pushed to their limits and are still excelling in the most important facet of undergraduate lives: academics. Amid a semester cut short from in-person instruction to completely virtual avenues this spring, our members stayed on course and finished the semester with a cumulative term GPA of 3.619 and 50 members on the Dean's List. We've also had two members who have taken it upon themselves to not only give back at the chapter level but have taken positions within our International Office of Administration to give back to Lambda Chi Alpha on an international level. The first being Robert Wulff A∆ 1462, who is featured in this issue. The second, Dave Newman A∆ 1465, our current High Phi (ritualist), took a position on the International Ritual Team (IRT). This team pulls brothers from all across the United States and Canada to exemplify our initiation ritual on a national stage, usually at our biannual General Assembly. Being a part of this team takes extreme dedication and a passion for our ritual like no other. During Dave's time on IRT over the previous summer, he was able to discuss fraternal ritual practices and help develop new ritual education lessons to bring back to Alpha-Delta and other chapters across the country. Dave had this to say about his time on the IRT: "My experience with the dedicated brothers on my committee was overall very motivational and reassuring, as we shared a passion for our ritual and for the welfare of our own chapters and International Fraternity as a whole. Overall, I felt my time was valuable as I worked on changes and gathered practices that I've already begun implementing at Alpha-Delta as High Phi. I plan to reapply for this next summer's IRT session as well in order to attempt to see a non-COVID IRT experience, fingers crossed." As always, we plan for the future. We have plenty of work ahead of us in the semesters to come, but I'm motivated by the extreme presence of innovation and our members taking it upon themselves to make the Alpha-Delta Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha a better place for those behind us. If we continue to do this, there is nothing that can hold us back. Here's to a very long but strengthening 2020, and to a 2021 full of growth and brotherhood for all brothers of Alpha-Delta—undergraduate and alumnus.
