I
t seems as though the last three years have
flown by! In the midst of a nine-month
(and counting) global epidemic, it seems
like light years away from the excitement of our
centennial celebration a mere three years ago.
Among all of the tumult, Alpha-Delta remains
on a strong foundation, rooted in our principles
and cultivated by our brothers, undergraduate
and alumnus, who put in endless hours of
their time to build on the century-old legacy
of Lambda Chi Alpha at Missouri S&T and to
transition our brotherhood with the changing
environment of the 21st century.
Since our last newsletter, the Housing
Corporation, with support from the Alpha-Delta
Zeta Foundation, has been able to support the
Chapter by financing the repurposing of the
previous formal living room as a quiet study
area for brothers. The new formal living room
in the space formerly occupied by the old living
room provides a high-quality first impression
for visitors to the Chapter House.
The COVID-19 outbreak in the U.S. and across
the globe has challenged the Chapter and
Housing Corporation the entirety of 2020. In
the spring, a large percentage of the brothers
returned home to finish the semester, leaving
a very small number at the house for the
remainder of the semester. While the Housing
Corporation is on good financial footing,
we were not able to forgive the brothers'
financial obligations. Their return in the fall is
a testament to their dedication to Lambda Chi
Alpha. The Foundation, once again, generously
granted the Housing Corporation funds to
support the brothers, this time in terms of
$1,000 scholarships to each brother living in the
house this fall.
Your contributions in support of the Chapter
House renovation were critical and helped us
build a house worthy of the brotherhood at
Lambda Chi Alpha. On page 2 you will find an
article with several ways to give and support us
as we support those undergraduate brothers.
Lastly, I want to say thank you to all of you who
have dedicated your time and resources over
the last three years. You have all helped me to
grow in my position as Housing Corporation
president, and I trust Steve Szymanski A∆
788 will make a fantastic president for years to
come.
