3 COLORADO DELTA W ell, it is my turn in the fish barrel, so here it goes. I joined Colorado Delta in the fall of 1972. I was a rather naïve incoming freshman. My father, Erling "Swede" Arnston '52, was a member of the same fraternity and also served on the alumni board, so I figured to check the place out. I went to a party and essentially never left. Brothers Ron Belden '74 and Dennis LaPrairie '75 were the hosts and were very generous in making me feel at home. Through the years at Mines, many friendships were made that survive today. We are joined by the common experience that is Mines and the brotherhood that helped us get through that institution. My brother, Dave "Daze" Arnston '77, is doing well and is retired in Everett, Washington, with his wife, Linda. He invents things and actually has an honorary doctorate from Oxford. It's a funny story about access to the Oxford dinner hall. Many memories are forever etched in my brain, such as Brother Bob Handford '76 creating a spectacular fireworks show on the top of South Table Mountain and snowball fights with vans on 19th Street. It has been wonderful to reconnect with the brothers over the years, and I will continue that when and wherever I can. Maybe we can add to the list of memories. Reeled in by Colorado Delta Stace "Space" Arnston '76 Reflects on His SigEp Experience I am now retired, reaping the rewards of my labors in the mining industry. I worked for a number of companies in Nevada, Colorado, California, and the Northwest Territories. I tell my niece to get a good job to help pay for my social security. She is not amused by that advice. I enjoy camping, fishing, woodworking, RC airplanes, golf, bike-riding, and traveling in our fifth wheel with my wonderful wife of 40 years, Joanne. I still have the 1960 MGA that I had at Mines. The fish barrel is rather small so I will wrap this up. I enjoyed sharing a bit of "who is Stace" and hope to get together with members of Colorado Delta in the future. Fraternally, Stace Arnston '76 Spotlight Search for True SigEps in Action C olorado Delta Chapter needs your help spotlighting brothers in future issues of our alumni newsletter. Do you know a Mines SigEp who's making a difference in the world during the coronavirus pandemic? Are you one of them? We want to hear from you! Tell us stories about healthcare heroes, men handling crisis management, brothers who are involved with nonprofit or volunteer organizations that are community lifelines—any brothers with purpose whom we should feature in a future Colorado Delta Chapter publication. Let's shine some light on our courageous brothers. Please send submissions to dbettenhausen@penningtonco.com. Thank you for staying connected with Colorado Delta Chapter of SigEp. We appreciate your support and encourage you to reach out to your brothers during this time of uncertainty. Congratulations, Class of 2020!
