Our members have shown that we are capable of achieving greatness even as we face challenges during the coronavirus pandemic. A Successful Virtual Recruitment Before recruitment, 10 members were allowed to attend the coronavirus-altered version of the M-Climb: the Rock Walk. This was a great opportunity for our Chapter to show support for the new freshmen and introduce fall recruitment! During the regulated fall recruitment period, Colorado Delta bid 17 new members. Given the circumstances, this was impressive since we initiated an average number of new members during a rush with COVID-19 regulations. The new class of Balanced Men are great stewards of the Cardinal Principles and are finding ways to stay involved in the Fraternity while navigating the challenges of school and the coronavirus. Lending a Hand with Homecoming Earlier this fall, nearly half of our in-house members volunteered to help the Mines Activity Council (MAC) put on their socially distanced Homecoming events by running the annual Blaster Bowl competition. It was great to see so many SigEps getting involved in one big event! Academic Initiatives With many regulations and canceled events, the Chapter has been focused on academics and health more than anything else. The members that live in the house are strict with cleanliness WEATHERING THE STORM TOGETHER Colorado Delta Brothers Navigate New Norm at Mines Amid Pandemic No more than 10 members were allowed to show off SigEp spirit at this year's Rock Walk, which replaced the M-Climb this semester. and focused on keeping the house organized and COVID-free. Upperclassmen have taken the initiative to hold daily office hours, as well as study sessions for various freshman and sophomore-level classes in order to ensure academic success. Brothers Stay Focused on Health and Safety Alongside academics, much of our brothers' time goes into physical health and wellness on a daily basis. Through Sound Body, the Chapter has acquired workout equipment for brothers who do not want to expose themselves to public workout facilities on campus, allowing them to safely achieve their fitness goals. Weekly yoga sessions at the house provide a sense of balance and mindfulness to our members in these tough times. Dietary/cooking seminars have been held to teach the basics of nutrition and health for every meal of the day. SigEp Sports Provide Opportunity for Outdoor Bonding One of the events that brothers look forward to each week is SigEp sports. The men of the Delta Chapter drafted their members to be on teams for competitive SigEp sport matches. A different sport is played each week, and potential new members are invited to participate, abiding by COVID-19 regulations. Utilizing the large yard space for SigEp sports is a great way for brothers to take their mind off school and hang out with their brothers. Grateful for Alumni The Chapter members are staying positive during the pandemic, as well as supporting one another and making the most of our time together at this university. We thank all the loyal alumni for your unwavering support, and we invite you to come stop by the Chapter house to meet the men following in your footsteps once it is safe to do so. I'm honored and damn proud to be a SigEp.
