The Sig Scroll p. 2 J ust when you think you've seen everything that can be done in a Chapter house, 2020 throws the COVID-19 curveball at us. Things had been going great during the spring semester, then Oklahoma State University made the tough decision to hold classes remotely following spring break. At this point, Gamma Delta Chapter elected to close the house down for the remainder of the semester. Closing early in the spring wasn't ideal, but it wasn't that disruptive, as many of our main activities had already taken place. Recruitment was obviously extremely important, and the undergraduate recruitment team did a phenomenal job adjusting to a mostly virtual recruitment during the early summer months. We signed a full class of 35 great, quality young men as if nothing had changed. The fall semester presented a more difficult challenge, as we had to modify our operations significantly to reduce the potential spread of the virus. We haven't had any social events, we altered our meal schedule, and we haven't had our normal tailgates. Active brothers have responded quite well, and they have made the best of an odd situation. Additionally, Gamma Delta Chapter conducted a great initiation in September. Outside of the unique challenges this semester, brothers have otherwise been focused on their schoolwork. We had the best finish in grades the Chapter has ever achieved in the spring, as far as anyone can remember, and we won yet another Peterson Award this summer at the virtual Leadership Workshop. Hopefully, things will steadily get back to normal in the spring semester and into the fall of 2021. We hope to have Chapter operations returning to normal this academic year.
