Although this concert is free, tickets are required. Travis Brass is the multitalented brass group of the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West. From a standard march or traditional brass composition to jazz, ragtime and the popular music of today, this group's diverse repertoire covers a myriad of styles to exhilarate audiences. Throughout the West Coast, Travis Brass focuses on educational outreach through hands-on clinics, master classes and interactive concerts for aspiring musicians of all ages. The musicians share their enthusiasm and expertise, customizing every per- formance to provide entertainment for community relations concerts, TV shows and professional sporting events, as well as honoring military personnel. These talented artists are active duty professional musicians working in support of Air Mobility Command and the surrounding communities. Travis Brass' blend of sound, style and humor make the group an entertaining ensemble, putting an evolutionary spin on the music of tomorrow. Talent showcase search continues Friday Auditions for the annual showcase, "Red Bluff's Got Talent," are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, May 17 at the Red Bluff Elks Lodge, 355 Gilmore Road. Performers of all disciplines are welcome, whether singers, dancers, comedians, clowns, musicians, jugglers or ventriloquists. Prepared audition pieces should be about 3-5 minutes in length and those who need music should bring an accompanist or compact disc to the audition. Professional pianist Darlene Lee, of Red Bluff, will provide accompaniment as needed on the day of the event. Sheet music will be required in advance if an accompanist is needed. Only those who have passed through an audition will be able to perform at the showcase. There is no charge to audition, but those who are selected will be asked to simply purchase a ticket for the event to cover registration and the cost of their meal. Every admission will include dinner. The top-scoring performers at the showcase will be awarded more than $1,000 in merchandise provided by county merchants. Juried photography show seeks entries The Tehama Country Juried Photography Show, 2013 is looking for entries related to recreational activities within Tehama County and/or Lassen Volcanic National Park. This contest is sponsored by the Tehama Country Branding Project, Rolling Hills Casino and the Tehama County Photo Club. The show will be exhibited in the new Tehama County Visitors Center Gallery, on Antelope Boulevard in Red Bluff, from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31. Any photographer 18 or older may enter the show. Works must be captured and post-processed solely by the entrant — except for film developing and printing. The focus is on showing people enjoying recreational activities within Tehama County and Lassen Volcanic National Park. A few examples of some of these activities include fishing, kayaking, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, hunting, wine tasting, shopping, motorcycling, camping and snowmobiling. The location of the shoot must be in Tehama County or Lassen Volcanic National Park. The activity should be appropriate to the location. Best of show entry will receive $500. Second through fifth place entries as well as five merit awards will all receive monetary awards. Entry fee is $10 for three images, with additional images $2 each. Deadline for entries is Sept. 4. Entrants grant the Tehama Country Branding Project the right to reproduce their work on the contest website and printed materials for show marketing. Final selected works will grant a limited, two-year license for use of their images for marketing purposes related strictly to non-profit branding projects to promote tourism and improve the quality of life in Tehama Country. Entrants retain full rights to their works. All selected works must provide a model release for everyone shown in the image.
