A SLICE OF PI 2 it forward at Theta Chapter and hopes to do the same in the future. "College is such a pivotal time in your life, so it's important to have someone you can lean on during it," she said. "My sorority sisters helped shape my faith and encouraged me to dig deeper into my values. There's so much value in being a part of something bigger than yourself." Through Gamma Phi, Hannah also gained leadership experience and enhanced her prioritizing skills that have served her well in her career. Now, she has her dream job as a training and development specialist on the People and Culture Team at an e-commerce company, Spreetail. She credits much of her experience with Pi Chapter in preparing her for professional endeavors. "I learned that networking is everything. A Gamma Phi sister might not be able to get you a job, but they can get your foot in the door and that's just as helpful," she stated. "I also learned how to talk to literally anyone from all of the recruitment training we did—that definitely helped me in my role as a recruiter for four years." Being the chapter president as an active member also taught Hannah how to be empathetic and to really try to see all perspectives, which has served her well in the human resources world. It also inspired her to take on the role of president of Gamma Phi Beta's Lincoln Alumnae Chapter. Although COVID-19 has prevented her from doing this role justice in her mind, she's grateful for any opportunity to stay close with the sisterhood that has given her so much over the years. "I bought a house during the pandemic, and one of my sorority sisters dropped off a full housewarming kit!" she shared. "It felt anticlimactic moving in without having friends around, so that gift meant a lot to me." Since COVID-19 has kept sisters apart, they've relied on Zoom and Marco Polo to keep in touch (maybe even more so) during the pandemic. Despite their physical distance, Hannah and her ΓΦB sisters remain close and keep cheering each other on through all the seasons of their lives. Hannah lives in Lincoln, and you can connect with her at h3riggle@gmail.com. J ane Jones Davis '47 passed away peacefully on January 3, 2020. Jane lived a full and long life with grace, humor, care, and respect. She was an amazing mother, gifted educator, and trained counselor. From a Nebraska farm girl to Army brat, military wife, educator, and mother, Jane traveled the globe her entire life collecting mementos, memories, and, most of all, friends. Smart and opinionated, Jane was a feminist who never lost pleasure in also being feminine. She could be fierce when she detected any injustice and then soft when a person needed help. She was a lady and a rebel. She was clear with her opinions and yet never unkind with their delivery. She was a lover of beautiful places, people, and art. Jane embraced life through travel, entertaining, and collecting. She loved to celebrate occasions big and small with thoughtful decorations and sumptuous meals. She will be remembered for her delightful brown eyes and easy smile. Jane spent her final years reading great books, appreciating the view of the Gallatin Mountains from her back porch, the change of seasons, and the sweetly predictable herd of Herefords on the neighbors' farm across the road. She delighted in seeing her great-grandchildren every week. Surrounded by people who loved and cared for her, she was gracious and appreciative to her family and caregivers, always. We want to acknowledge the passing of our sister Jane and recognize Barbara Johnson Bock-Mavis '47 with a special thank-you for the donation made in Jane's honor. Barbara said that she remembers sitting in the dining room and giggling with Jane while they studied. She was a forever friend and will be missed greatly. Thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. IN MEMORIAM
