3 Alpha Delta Pi F rom the moment she met her future sisters, Kristin Grant Check '06 knew that Alpha Delta Pi was the right place for her. "I felt at home and welcome, like we had already been friends for years. Those same women are still my dearest friends today." The bonds she formed and the leadership roles she embraced also helped shape Kristin into a strong leader in the interior design field, and this came full circle when the House Corporation hired her for Alpha Omicron's new chapter house. "Working on this project has been the highlight of my interior design career." Strong Credentials Kristin is a licensed interior designer in the state of Oklahoma and is also NCIDQ registered, meaning she is qualified to work complex projects and protect the health, safety, and welfare of building occupants at the highest level. She is also the first interior designer in the state to become a WELL Accredited Professional, a building certification process that prioritizes both the physical and mental health of building occupants. Thanks to her ADPi connections, she found a job in the field right out of college and has worked on a variety of unique projects in the years since. At a previous firm she designed the Ronald McDonald House at Garrison Tower in Oklahoma City, which was a meaningful job after years of serving the charity with her sisters. Our New Home Is in Good Hands Kristin Grant Check '06 Brings Her Interior Design Skills Back to ADPi Another favorite project was with the OU Children's Hospital, where she worked on various sites around campus such as a large conference center building and a rooftop play garden. "All the projects were special, and each had an impact on my career by showing the important healing benefits of thoughtful and inspirational Thank You To all our AO sisters who provided photos for the new chapter house collage wall. Your contributions will make this an extra special feature in the new house! interior and exterior environments and their impact on the children and families who are experiencing these spaces in stressful situations. Projects like these give me moments where I know why I do what I do." Coming Home to AO This is Kristin's first time working on a Greek house, and she has thoroughly enjoyed applying both her commercial experience and personal creativity for the benefit of ADPi. "When I was living in the old chapter house, building a new one felt like a long distant possibility," she recalls. "Seeing it now come to life and what a positive impact that will have is really special. Every square foot in the new house has been carefully designed and considered to bring maximum benefit and flexibility to the future sisters living there." Among the many design choices in the house, one of Kristin's favorite custom touches is the two collage walls that will feature more than 1,000 photos submitted by alumnae for generations of sisters to enjoy when they visit. Kristin and the House Corporation have worked long and hard on this project and she can't wait to see them cut the ribbon. In the meantime, she enjoys doing various crafts and DIY projects at home and, as of September, being a new mother.
