Before the campus closure in March, the chapter was able to conduct our big sis/little sis reveal and our initiation ceremony for our spring new members. We even had the opportunity to celebrate our mothers during Mom's Weekend before students returned home for the semester. We were able to keep chapter members engaged for the remainder of the semester through virtual chapter meetings, including a special chapter to honor our graduating seniors. Our executive board organized virtual sisterhood and programming events over the summer to keep our members connected and to educate them on resources and current events. CHAPTER EXCELS IN ACADEMICS In the spring 2020 semester, Alpha Nu attained a chapter GPA of 3.72 with 56 members who achieved a 4.0 GPA. We are very proud of all sisters for their continued efforts to achieve academic excellence during the transition to online learning halfway through the semester. VIRTUAL PHILANTHROPIC EVENTS WERE SUCCESSFUL Despite the decision to hold our spring philanthropic events virtually, Alpha Nu Chapter members continued to showcase their passion for supporting our local beneficiary, True North of Columbia. Our virtual These Hands Don't Hurt Week consisted of a Dynamics of Sexual Assault presentation, a donation bingo board, T-shirt sales and virtual Denim Day and Swishin' for A Mission campaigns. Through the support of our alumnae and chapter members and the hard work of our philanthropy committee, we raised $6,829.95 for True North of Columbia! WELCOME TWO NEW EXEC BOARD MEMBERS The chapter elected two new executive board members when returning to Columbia in August. Samantha Cox '17, a senior from St. Louis, was elected VP of ritual and fraternity appreciation. Olivia Barrett '18 of Kansas City, a sophomore, was elected VP of fraternity operations. Officer elections are typically held in November and serve for a calendar year. ADAPTING PER COVID-19 Our chapter is working hard to find normalcy during these times through conducting virtual chapter meetings and programming events. We hope to continue our philanthropy and sisterhood events in small, socially- distanced and masked groups to provide the best and safest experience for our members. Additionally, we have revamped our live-in experience to include safer meal services, as well as extensive cleaning and symptom monitoring practices. We completed our virtual recruitment week, including a socially distanced Bid Day, to welcome home our new members. As of now, we are excited to plan a safe 2020 Homecoming with the men of Pi Kappa Phi to continue Mizzou's Homecoming tradition. We are very excited for the semester ahead and cannot wait to share our accomplishments. On behalf of Alpha Nu, thank you for your continued love and support.
