page 7 | University of Missouri C arrie Tergin, Zeta Sigma '92, mayor of Jefferson City, Missouri, received Alpha Chi Omega's top national award this summer. A former Alpha Nu chapter advisor, Carrie received the 2020 Award of Achievement. This annual award recognizes outstanding alumnae who have made significant contributions resulting in national or regional recognition in their chosen professional fields. She was nominated by Kappa Upsilon Kappa, the Mid-Missouri Alumnae Chapter, of which she is treasurer. The award was originally to be presented at the national convention in Baltimore in June, but was presented virtually July 28 due to COVID-19. Carrie attributes her leadership ability to her days as a collegiate Alpha Chi Omega. She is the owner of Carrie's Hallmark Shop in Jefferson City and is also an artist and a photographer. Elected as the mayor of Jefferson City in 2015, she is a graduate of Missouri State University with a degree in business management, and she is a member of the MSU Board of Governors, serving as chairman in 2018. She has served on the Jefferson City Council and boards of numerous civic and charitable organizations. Former AN Chapter Advisor Receives AXΩ's Highest Award J essica Schulte '18 is the recipient of the 2020 Amy DuBois Rieth Emerging Leader Award from National Headquarters. This award honors a newly initiated Alpha Chi, an emerging leader who has embraced the ideals of Alpha Chi Omega and has shown great potential to serve her chapter, her campus and/or her community— and is already taking steps to actively participate. In the letter nominating her, Jessica was described as humble, hilarious and someone that all chapter members feel comfortable around. "She has a way of making everyone around her feel welcomed, loved and appreciated. She treats everyone equally regardless of their age, experience or leadership position." Jessica currently serves as VP of recruitment information on the chapter's executive board. She has a long history of leadership and involvement with her church, Future Farmers of America and a mentoring program for children. Studying to be a respiratory therapist, Jessica is focusing on her studies and always looking for opportunities to get involved and get others involved. Congratulations, Jessica!
