r e d f c u.o r g | 5 Instead of heading to your favorite dance club or restaurant, 2020 New Year's Eve festivities are probably going to feature smaller groups of families and friends and include more time at home. Consider one of these fun and creative ways to safely say farewell, 2020, and hello, 2021! Dress to the nines – and cook your own three-course meal. Get some family, roommates, or friends together and prepare a fancy meal. en, get dressed up and return to the dining room to enjoy what you've made, with one person serving the food. Order in your favorites. Help support local restaurants while savoring the holiday by having your guests each choose a different dish from their favorite restaurant, then having the meals delivered to your home. Get outside. Grab some candles and head out to a local, county, or state park for a candlelight night hike. Or, host a bonfire or scavenger hunt in your backyard. Hold a mask-decorating contest. Give everyone a white face mask and artistic supplies, then see who comes up with the most creative mask! Make sure to award the winner. Go virtual. Invite friends and/or family to "gather" on Zoom for the evening. Make it a theme night and have everyone dress up and decorate their spaces accordingly to mark the occasion. Host a game night. Play your favorite board games and make fun prizes for the winners. You can make it virtual using websites that simulate your favorite board game, such as Tabletop Simulator, or share your screen and play an online party-game service like Jackbox. Have a movie marathon. Pick a movie or TV series like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or Friends and see how many you can get through before the clock strikes midnight. Give everyone their own goodie basket of popcorn and other theater treats. ere are plenty of ways to safely celebrate New Year's Eve – it just might require a little more creative thinking and planning. Who knows? Maybe you'll even start a new tradition! Fun Ways to Ring in t he New Year ( E V E N D U R I N G A PA N D E M I C ) Chances are that ringing in 2021 is going to look quite different from previous New Year's Eve celebrations – but that might make it more important than ever to mark the occasion.
