THETA GAMMA NEWS PAGE 4 O U President Joseph Harroz recently shared with the OU community that "our intention is to return to in-person educational operations on all three campuses this fall, offering traditional instruction and residential life." With this in mind, we have been working to prepare for a return in the fall while keeping the safety of our chapter in mind. We've received training and information from the Tri Delta Executive Office to help prepare for transitioning into the fall semester and have ideas ready to implement. We are continuing to keep the house clean with additional weekend cleanings and more germ-fighting cleaning materials available. We will have sanitizer at the doors and throughout the chapter house, and are encouraging members to return with some of their own sanitizer. As we quickly shut down during the middle of the spring semester, we maintained appropriate social distancing guidelines and held online meetings. The collegians are very organized and coordinated well with our team of alumnae to not only move out in a scheduled manner, but also replan finances and prepare for the fall semester. We have a superstar house mom, House Corporation, and financial advisor. Regarding the sorority recruitment timeline, the 2020 Panhellenic Formal Recruitment process has been reevaluated with the advice and guidance of the National Panhellenic Conference and its recent Recruitment Task Force Report and findings. Work week will start on August 12. Recruitment will be a combination of virtual and in-person events. Panhellenic is corresponding with all young women registered for recruitment so they will know the final plan. There will be a variety of things on the registration form that are different from past years. There are categories for potential new members (PNMs) to better lay out their information, including work or professional experience, leadership activities, service activities, academic activities, athletic activities, and scholarship/award/honors. Hopefully this will help in our pre-score and keep some of this information more organized. OU will be doing a webinar of information on how PNMs should be submitting this information, as well as providing a sample form. The goal is for the information be more consistent for us across the board. OU is also looking into options for PNMs to record a short video of themselves answering a prompted question, some short essay questions, etc. This will allow PNMs to have a chance to really show who they are through this form in the event that parts of recruitment would not be in person. Chapters and chapter members ARE allowed to reach out to PNMs this summer. However, that contact should ONLY be for positive Panhellenic contact. Meaning, you all can be promoting the sorority experience broadly, but not promoting one chapter over the others. The spirit of this policy is that we want more women in the pipeline for recruitment. And last but certainly not least, if you will be writing a recommendation, please use the online form (www.tridelta.org/write-a-reference) or mail it in. The online form isn't exactly like the paper form, but will allow you to submit your reference with a photo. Thank you for your support of Theta Gamma. We will keep you updated as the semester unfolds!
