PAGE 5 UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA The Theta Gamma senior class of 2020. T he 2020 spring semester wasn't what anyone expected it to be. With being sent home to our families, socially distanced from our friends, and having all of our in- person classes conducted online, the sisters had to find a new normal just as the rest of the world did. My main goal has been to keep in mind my vision for what I want Tri Delta to be for its members. I always, and in this time especially, want Tri Delta to be something that provides light in all stressful and challenging parts of life. To stay true to this goal, offering members different opportunities to connect with one another was a priority. Over the online portion of the semester, our sisterhood connected through various virtual meetings and events. Our chapter hosted online sessions so sisters could continue communicating, interacting, socializing, and bonding as sisters. For example, our Coffeehouse event was hosted through Instagram livestreams. Although we couldn't host the event in person as we normally would, we still managed to garner many donations and a large amount of support and success. Much of that success is attributed to the adaptation of our members and their focus on a wholesome event, even in the midst of such a crisis. The executive board has had weekly office hours and stayed in constant communication about the University's plans and updates, the changing climate, and the overall direction from Tri Delta. Celebrating the graduating seniors was a big priority of ours, especially considering that their normal celebrations and recognitions were put on hold without the benefit of in-person interaction. We encouraged members to send letters to seniors close to them in order to motivate them for their future, congratulate them for graduating, and celebrate their time as members of Tri Delta. For our last chapter meeting of the year, we celebrated the seniors by dedicating a video to them, which included a large amount of gratitude from other members and photos to commemorate their years in the active chapter. For the upcoming semester, we look forward to adding new members to the sisterhood and growing the in-person bonds that we've missed out on throughout this unprecedented time. Although the fall semester will look different than what we are used to, we are excited to welcome a new member class. We will reflect on the lessons we learned from the spring and determine how we can best utilize them within our sisterhood in the future. These include not taking our campus lives for granted, learning to deal with changing circumstances, and overcoming unprecedented challenges as they come. Tri Delta employees, volunteers, and alumnae have been extremely supportive for the members of our chapter throughout this time and we value their support greatly. The alumnae support is incredibly important to the success of our chapter and every bit of it is appreciated and makes an impact.
