3 Alpha Delta Pi T he weekend of March 8, the Alpha Omicron Chapter, the Theta Xi chapter, and all local alumnae came together to celebrate our accomplishments and remember why we joined Alpha Delta Pi. From all over Oklahoma, we traveled to The Greens Country Club in Oklahoma City. Not only were current members able to interact with alumnae and other sisters, but we got to interact with International President Emily Erkel, University of Arkansas '91. Our members enjoyed the 1851 shop, speeches from the alumnae associations, current presidents, Emily Erkel, and a great meal with sisters. Our lovely president, Sarah Shepard '17, spoke of the great accomplishments and events from the past year. The year of 2019, our Chapter got the honor of being rewarded with the Programming Excellence and Superlative Awards for Harris Finance Excellence, Philanthropy Excellence, Best Financial Management, and 0% Accounts Receivable. GO, AO! We celebrated the fifth annual Pizookie Night by serving more than 1,000 pizookies and raising more than $4,400 for the Ronald McDonald House. Last fall, AO hosted a dodgeball tournament in honor of the Max Gruver Foundation. We raised $2,500 for the organization and in pursuit to raise awareness of Stop the Hazing. Freshman Addie Duling '19 was recognized for winning the James and Ruby Garton Scholarship from the College of Biosystems and Agriculture Engineering. This award is given for outstanding performance for academics and involvement on campus. Senior Sotheby Shedeck '16 was awarded Top 5 Finance Seniors in the College of Business. Lastly, Janet Ashworth '16 was selected as one of nine women to travel and give input to ADPi chapters all of the world as a Leadership Consultant. Several awards were given out to our amazing Chapter members, alumnae, and parents. The Outstanding New Member Award went to our sweet new member, Lauren Flake '19. She ran home to Alpha Delta Pi this past Bid Day and was initiated in the fall of 2019. She was nominated due to her great attitude throughout her membership so far, great involvement in ADPi and on campus, and her willingness to help others. Next, Janet Ashworth for the Outstanding Senior Award. She has put her blood, sweat, and tears into Alpha Delta Pi by serving as Property Manager, Financial VP, and President. We are greatly thankful for everything Janet has done for AO and wish her the best of luck in the real world. The Karen Taggert Shaw Award was given to Angie Fonseca '17. She always has a positive attitude, willing to help out whenever she is needed, and is extremely passionate about ADPi. She lights up every room she walks into. Next, Summer Bowen '16 was awarded the Senior of Significance Award. Summer has given her last four years at OSU to everything ADPi and Panhellenic by serving on their executive board. Summer has left her mark on so many people and on AO; we are so excited to watch you thrive after graduation. The Ideal ADPi Award was given to Mackenzie Gallagher '18. She has served as New Member Coordinator and currently is VP of Marketing. She has shown great qualities of an ADPi woman, and we are beyond proud that she is a part of our amazing Chapter. Leigh DeFreitas '93 was awarded the Outstanding Alumnae award. She has given so much to AO by putting on events for us to interact with other alumnae, provided and set up dinners, and many more. Thank you, Leigh, for everything you do for AO, we appreciate you. Shannon Cooper was awarded the Outstanding Parent Award. She has provided us with many meals, her endless love, and her valuable time. We are all very grateful for her, her time and the money she puts into Alpha Delta Pi. Thank you, Shannon! AO is beyond thankful for all of our members, alumnae, and parents that have helped us succeed this past year. State Day reminded us why we joined Alpha Delta Pi and how it has impacted our lives, and how we have sisters from all of the world that have the same love for this amazing organization. Alpha Delta Pi could not be everything it is today without all of its alumnae and current members.
