The award, which has been around since 1938, is awarded to a College of Engineering alumnus in recognition of outstanding achievement in advancing engineering science, technology or policy having national and international impact in academics, industry, public service, government or other venues. "As if the honor itself wasn't enough, the really special part was the trip back to Ames, Iowa, and who I got to share it with. Gary and Todd Gardiner made the trip with me, and we got to tour the campus and visit the Alpha Tau Omega house," Bill said. "The biggest surprise of the weekend though, was Jim Schultz (longtime Gardiner adviser and former Trane president) and Mike Schwartz (CEO of Daikin Applied) showed up to share the occasion. Jim and Mike are both ISU alumni as well, and it meant a lot to me that they took the time and effort to travel from Austin and the Twin Cities, respectively, for the event. Good friends are just plain good friends." Bill lives in Solon, Ohio, and can be reached at billg3400@aol.com.
