Always Think of KD Kappa Delta at Florida State University P.O. Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address Service Requested PRSRT STD U.S. POSTAGE PAID KPI wife of former Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher, to generate medical research dollars for Fanconi anemia. Candi and Jimbo's son, Ethan, was diag- nosed with the rare blood disease in 2011. "When I worked for Kidz1stFund, I put myself in Candi's position," Cameron said. "On the out- side, her son looked perfectly healthy, but on the inside, his blood was very sick. We made it our mission to raise significant dollars and national awareness to fight this terrible disease." While Cameron is the proud mom of her 12-year- old daughter and 8-year-old son, she has given birth to three children. She was a surrogate for another couple and helped them welcome their only child into the world in August 2018, which was an awesome experience for her. However, the months that followed were full of challeng- ing times. Cameron's father and grandfather both passed away, Hurricane Michael hit Tallahassee, her family moved, and her job with the Florida Senate ended on election day. Cameron's head was buzzing amidst all the hard- ships, but she soon realized she was receiving some help from an unexpected source—honey- bees. Beekeeping had always intrigued Cameron, so she decided to start Capital City Honey Com- pany, which makes beeswax candles and honey products. Her goal is to be a full-time beekeeper and run a bee-inspired specialty gi company. "In many ways, the bees have helped me get through the terrible grief and emotional stress," Cameron said. "I just think honeybees are so cool. I was recently a guest on my first podcast where we talked a lot about my life and the bees and how they've intertwined." Another hive Cameron remains thankful for is the Kappa Delta sisterhood. She's always happy when her sisters come buzzing around. She vol- unteers on the Kappa Alpha House Corporation Board, loves getting together at local alumnae events, and always looks forward to her annual KD girls' weekends. "As I've gotten older, I've realized that growing personally and helping others matters. KD gave me an outlet to find myself or help me succeed." Cameron said. "en you graduate and become a mom and you're a wife and you're a working professional. I still have this desire to be a part of KD and volunteer, too. It's just this great part of my life I couldn't live without." You can connect with Cameron at cam5eron@ hotmail.com and www.CapitalCityHoney.com.
