Stephen Sibley '11 and Tim Harrington '02 Share SigEp's Ideals at IDV p. 3 SIGMA PHI EPSILON W hen Stephen Sibley '11 met Tim Harrington '02, Tyndall Yaap, Texas A&M '94, and Jarrad Coulter, Purdue '01 in 2013, he was immediately intrigued by the idea of working with them as they launched Investment & Development Ventures, LLC. at thought remained with Stephen four years later as he was finishing his MBA, so he reached out to Tim on a whim and met up with him for coffee. Stephen had hoped he'd be meeting with his future coworker, but soon realized that they had much more in common. Tim and Stephen are Stratford High School alumni, Texas Alpha brothers, and about a year later, they became coworkers. "Stephen has been a great addition. He has been instrumental in allowing us to grow the IDV platform," Tim said. "He has great analytical and people skills. His knowledge and background from the banking industry have been really helpful as well." Tim, Tyndall, and Jarrad had a common vision to build high- quality real estate and relationships with partners and clients when they started IDV. eir vision has turned into reality, as IDV is now a real estate development company that's completed more than $500 million in transactions. "I couldn't have done any of this without the support of my wife, Tiffani," Tim said. "When I told her that I wanted to quit my job and start my own company with Tyndall and Jarrad, she never doubted me." e family-first mentality Tim, Tyndall, and Jarrad share is something that Stephen greatly appreciates. A few months aer Stephen started at IDV, he and his wife, Jackie, welcomed their daughter, Hadley, to their family. "Tim has been a great mentor for me," Stephen said. "Learning from his experience on the land development side of the business has been incredibly interesting and has already taught me a lot. Equally as valuable though has been his mentorship on a personal level." Much of Tim's time outside of work is spent with Tiffani and their three children, Mazie, Knox, and Hattie. Tim enjoys coaching his kids' sports teams and cheering them on at dance recitals. He also loves to travel and got the chance to attend his 20-year Texas Alpha reunion with his brothers in February 2019 in Colorado. Stephen is thankful to regularly keep in touch with his brothers as he and Jackie learn the ins and outs of parenthood. A few of Stephen's brothers are also first-time parents, so they've started a dinner group at El Tiempo where they meet at 4 p.m. and get home by 7 p.m. so their kids can be asleep. "Some of the brothers in my class are still my best friends today, nearly 10 years aer graduating from college," Stephen said. T exas Alpha continues to lead the way in being the best of all Balanced Men. e fall semester brought us 50 exceptional new members, all of whom contributed to another excellent fall GPA. Members consistently served the community and the university through countless hours of philanthropy and community service. Academics Texas Alpha comfortably ranks above the all- men and all-fraternity averages, despite having more members than nearly every other male organization. e new member class added a total of 12 business and engineering honors students to the already outstanding group of Alphas in honors programs. Philanthropy Undergraduate members successfully raised upwards of $10,000 for Safe Alliance Texas, an organization geared toward supporting those affected by abuse. Texas Alpha also raised $6,000 for the Holly Clegg Gastric Cancer Research Fund at MD Anderson. Holly passed in November of 2019 and is remembered by current Texas Alpha Matthew Berkowitz '20 and their family.
