Over the ensuing decades, both SigEp and the Texas Alpha Chapter grew by leaps and bounds by adhering to the simple but enduring principles upon which our organization was founded. For Texas Alpha, the formula for building a great chapter has not changed much since our founding. Recruit the best men we can, establish close bonds of brotherhood, achieve academic success, and have fun doing it. Although the methods have changed over the decades, the results have not, and this spring we will commemorate our 90-year anniversary by celebrating our many accomplishments, honoring the past, and encouraging the present. We will be joined by distinguished Texas Alpha alumni, members of SigEp's National Board of Directors and executive staff, and of course, our outstanding undergraduate chapter. e Texas Alpha Education Foundation and the chapter extend the invitation to all alumni and guests to join us April 17-18. Richard "Dick" Vermillion Jr. '67 was introduced to SigEp and invited to Round Up by John Tyler '63. Dick credits John and Tom Dunning '65 and his date with giving him a great recruitment experience and convincing him to pledge Texas Alpha early. Joining SigEp not only gave him an outlet to participate in campus activities and sports, but it helped him mature and develop leadership skills. "It was a great decision with benefits that have followed me all my life," he said. Texas Alpha was considered an up-and-coming chapter in the early 1960s, and Dick and his brothers were honored and thrilled to climb the ladder. Dick especially took interest in intramural athletics and helping the chapter succeed on that front. He served as intramural chairman, then as pledge trainer and chapter president. LIFELONG FRIENDSHIPS Along with lifelong values, Dick found lifelong friendships with brothers who are there for him no matter what. He was accepted into
