With a unanimous vote from the current members, SigEp becomes the sixth fraternity in CUIFC. In September, the Chapter voted to leave the Interfraternity Council on the Hill, which is not affiliated with CU Boulder, to seek membership in CUIFC to contribute to the campus community as a values-driven organization with a strong relationship with the university. This marks the first time a fraternity has left the off-campus IFC to join CUIFC. SigEp completed a petition for recognition with CUIFC and met with community leaders to share the Chapter's challenges and successes over the last few years. "SigEp has shown that they are committed to developing an atmosphere where brothers hold one another accountable and positively impact the community around them," CUIFC outgoing President Joshua Bradley said. SigEp will join Phi Delta Theta, Sigma Tau Gamma, Beta Theta Pi, Sigma Chi, and Delta Upsilon in the CUIFC. "Through our collaborative work with SigEp, nationally and locally, it's been evident the Chapter is committed to being a successful member of CUIFC," said Stephanie Baldwin, CU's assistant director for Fraternity and Sorority Life. "Affiliation with CUIFC provides member organizations with access to university resources and staff time, the ability to recruit on campus, and opportunities to engage with the campus community in meaningful and productive ways." As associate members of CUIFC, the Chapter will participate in regular council meetings, engage in community-wide events, and have the ability to access university resources. "We believe partnership with like-minded fraternities and the university is critical to our success at CU and on any campus," SigEp CEO Brian Warren said. "We are proud that the Chapter made the decision to seek campus and CUIFC recognition, and we are confident this relationship will lead to a stronger Chapter focused on providing a safe, life-changing experience." University of Colorado Boulder | CU Boulder Today Amy Drach Brings New Perspective to Colorado Alpha AVC A t the time, Amy Drach didn't know how an encounter on the Colorado SigEp basketball court back in 1983 would drastically affect her life. For Chi Omega recruitment, a group of SigEps, including Dave Drach '85, jumped out of their Camp Chi-O tent during their opening song. Thirty-three years later, Amy and Dave are married with two sons and Amy serves on the SigEp AVC. Amy found her way to the AVC after running into former SPE Grand President and friend Chris Bittman '85, who thought her different perspective could add to the AVC's conversation. With a background of teaching, coaching, event planning, and raising two boys, Amy's skills have come in handy at SigEp. "I am most proud of the strides we have made as an AVC to connect back with our alumni and provide areas where they can step up and be a part of this great organization." As the mom of two boys, Amy knows the influence mentors can have on young men. "If I knew that there were alums willing to step into my boys' lives in college and be there if they needed anything, it would have meant the world." Amy hopes she can make a difference with the SigEp undergraduates, even if just with one young man, "to be the reason he becomes a leader, stays in school, or just makes good choices in life."
