60 YEARS OF MISSISSIPPI BETA TRADITION
A SISTERHOOD IN NEED OF SPACE
Pi Beta Phi, like most sororities at Ole Miss, has experienced
tremendous growth. Mississippi Beta has more than 400 active
members. While this growth is welcomed and appreciated, it
does present challenges with the current facility. The entire
chapter is no longer able to fit in the chapter room and all-
chapter dinners have ceased to exist due to the lack of space.
Pi Phi sleeps just 40 women — the lowest capacity on campus.
COMPETITION AT ALL
-
TIME HIGH
While Pi Phi was one of the first chapter houses to conduct a major
renovation in the late 2000s, other sororities at Ole Miss followed
and have responded to growing chapter size and increased
competition. Every house has space for their membership and
sleeps 60-plus members. While Pi Phi continues to attract some
of the top women on campus, we know that we are losing quality
potential members to other sororities that offer better facilities.
We cannot let Mississippi Beta fall behind.

"We truly have outgrown our house.
Our whole chapter cannot fit in the
chapter room and a single pledge
class cannot fit in the dining
room to eat together. Not having
enough space to accommodate
our members is definitely hurting
our recruitment and retention."
– Haley Tyrrell '17, Chapter President
"If we want to continue to be a
competitive house on campus, we
need to be able to properly fit all
the new girls who are excited to
be here! I can't wait to see how
a livelier space will positively
impact our chapter!"

uilt in 1964, 642 Rebel Drive has been a part of Pi Phi's legacy for all 60 years of Mississippi Beta's existence. It has become
clear that we must make a major investment in our chapter house if we are to remain competitive, provide a quality living
environment and meet the needs of our sisters today.
