ΣΦΕ EARTBEA H T UNIVERSITY OF OREGON s SIGMA PHI EPSILON Oregon Beta WINTER 2020 ALUMNI ENDEAVORS Reunions, Assisting Undergraduates, and More S igEp at the University of Oregon has had an eventful year. Here's a quick recap. We had a fantastic alumni weekend October 4-6, which included a Friday night social, tours of the Chapter House with refreshments on Saturday morning, followed by some tailgating and a Ducks win over Cal. On Sunday, the Chapter awarded four scholarships to worthy freshmen at the Balanced Man Scholarship Luncheon where Ryan Nguyen '07 served as the keynote speaker. Check the next newsletter for when the next OR Beta alumni weekend will be. I would also like to give an official welcome to the newest member of the OR Beta AVC: Ian Schray '97. Before the start of the fall term, members of the AVC traveled to Eugene for "work party" to prepare the house for fall recruitment. In addition to lending a hand to the undergraduates by discarding worn-out furniture, cleaning the floors, and building new picnic tables, we also invested in several additional amenities for the Chapter facility. The main living room has been furnished with new couches and tables. Alumni from the classes of 1968-70 purchased the undergraduates a new TV projector. We completed the first phase of replacing the hallway carpet throughout the house with hardwood floors, which we plan to finish during winter break. Finally, we rewarded the Chapter for their very successful recruitment efforts by purchasing a new, complete set of ritual equipment. In all, we continue to make significant improvements to the Chapter House, with the goal of transforming 1000 Alder Street into the best Fraternity facility on campus. In the past, we typically would publish the names of all new members who joined OR Beta following fall recruitment. However, as one of the goals of the OR Beta AVC is to increase networking opportunities between its alumni and undergraduates, in this issue we have included a list of all OR Beta seniors that will graduate this spring, along with their major, hometown, and career interests. Please review this list and if you can help connect any of these worthy young men with career opportunities, I encourage you to reach out and do so! Finally, please see the save the date for the Presidential phone call in February. If you fit this description, we encourage you to participate. As always, if you're interested in volunteering for the Chapter in any capacity (board member, mentor, speaker, etc.), please message me at the email address below. Thank you for your support of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
