CUMBERLAND Science Festival for Kids April 5-21 at Libraries Rabies Clinics Available Through April 24 The Cumberland County Public Library & Information Center will present ���Life Is Your Lab��� science programs for children and teens at all eight library branches from April 5-21. The programs will be held in conjunction with the third annual N.C. Science Festival to celebrate science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The clinics will be held every Tuesday and Thursday VACCINATION CLINICS from 4 to 6 p.m. A total of 20 clinics at different sites throughout the county are scheduled. The cost is $10 per animal and must be paid in cash. WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM Volunteers Needed to Help Pregnant Women The Cumberland County Department of Public Health is seeking people to join the Friendship Project, a support group of volunteers who offer a helping hand and encouragement to expectant mothers during their pregnancies. A free training session will be held April 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in WKH &XPEHUODQG &RXQW\ 3XEOLF +HDOWK &HQWHU��V VHFRQG ��RRU FRQIHUHQFH room. The session will take about two and a half hours and refreshments will be provided. The Friendship Project was established by the North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation to set up local community support groups that encourage pregnant women to keep their doctor appointments and maintain healthy habits during the pregnancy. ���Volunteers can help pregnant women keep their doctor appointments and encourage them to follow through with doctor recommendations,��� said Kassie Howard, maternal health educator and coordinator for Cumberland County���s Friendship Project group. ���By helping mothers-tobe stay healthy, we can also help babies stay healthy.��� For more information, call 910-433-3858.
