March 18 to April 21 Airborne and Special Operations Museum The Airborne and Special Operations Museum tells the story of the airborne and special operations soldier from 1940 to the present. The World War II portion of the museum���s permanent gallery features many examples of American propaganda posters published during the war, as well as other artifacts pertaining to the airborne and special operations soldier���s role in the liberation of Europe. April 7, 5 p.m. Reception, 6 p.m. Concert with readings Community Observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day Beth Israel Congregation Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra and Cape Fear Regional Theatre will present Olivier Messiaen���s ���Quatuor pour la fin du temps��� (Quartet for the End of Time) and selected readings from the stage adaptation of the Diary of Anne Frank. ���Quartet for the End of Time��� was written by the 31-yearold Messiaen while imprisoned in a prisoner of war camp. The quartet was premiered in Stalag VIII-A in G��rlitz, Germany (currently Zgorzelec, Poland) outdoors in the rain on January 15, 1941, with old, broken instruments before an audience of about 400 fellow prisoners of war and prison guards. April 11, 7 p.m. Medicine, The Disabled and the Road to the Holocaust Fayetteville State University Dr. Bradley Kadel, assistant professor of History at Fayetteville State University, will present ���Medicine, The Disabled and the Road to the Holocaust��� at Shaw Auditorium in the School of Business and Economics at FSU. This presentation argues that the campaign against the disabled and euthanasia programs implemented before the Holocaust helped pave the way for mass killing by enlisting medical professionals and managing public outcries of dissent.
