Your generosity is making a difference! e Importance of Balance How Beta Omicron Helped Chuck Rossi '83 Lead a Balanced Life W hile managing the demands of a 36-year career in senior technical and high-tech management positions, Chuck Rossi '83 leaned on skills learned at Beta Omicron to keep a work- life balance. "I learned a lot about balancing schoolwork, fun, and the responsibilities of maintaining the house." Beyond career skills, life at the Beta Omicron Shelter gave him another lifelong relationship: meeting his wife of almost 34 years, Sheryl. As he prepares to retire at the end of 2019, Chuck reflects on what he is most proud of: "That I've had a successful career while also managing to spend a lot of time with my wife and kids." Highlights of Chuck's career include completing a company- funded master of engineering program at MIT and being a member of the management team at GeoTel, a telecom startup that went public and was later acquired by Cisco. Staying connected with Beta Omicron has been a priority for Chuck. He returns to Ithaca nearly every year to celebrate Homecoming weekend with his Delt brothers. In 2012, his son, Jeffrey Rossi '15, joined Delt. By attending his initiation, Chuck forged relationships with a number of recent graduates. This recent connection gave Chuck a good look at today's chapter and the future of Beta Omicron, which he believes is headed in the right direction. "I think Beta Omicron Delt has a very solid future ahead of it. They have been taking recruitment seriously and growing the chapter in recent years. There is a solid group of recent alumni to provide mentorship to the actives and a solid group of older alumni to provide financial support. I think the house will continue to evolve to a changing definition of what being in a fraternity is all about." Chuck and Sheryl live in Northborough, Massachusetts. Their twin sons, Jeffrey and Sean, turned 26 in May. Jeffrey lives in Cambridge and works at a local biotechnology company. Sean just graduated from Boston University Medical School, married his college sweetheart, and began his residency at UVM Medical School in Burlington. In his free time, Chuck enjoys golfing, skiing, playing bridge, and hanging out at his lake house. Top ree Lessons Chuck Learned from Delt How to share responsibility and get things done as a team. How to interview for a job. Watching brothers in the classes before me go through the interview process was very helpful when I had to go through it myself. How to respect diversity. For example, the first openly gay person that I ever really met was a brother at Delt. 1 2 3 To make your contribution to the annual campaign visit cornelldelts.org/support-delt.
