SUMMER RENOVATIONS BRING SHELTER UP TO CODE House Corporation Welcomes New Vice President THE CORDELT BETA OMICRON CHAPTER OF DELTA TAU DELTA AT CORNELL UNIVER SI T Y FALL 2019 cornelldelts.org I hope this edition of the Cordelt finds you well and preparing for the upcoming holiday season with plenty of time spent with those you care about most. 2019 HOMECOMING ON THE HILL We celebrated our 129th Homecoming on The Hill with one of the largest alumni gatherings in recent memory— nearly every generation of Delts was represented. We're fortunate to have a large contingency from the early '70s as well as the class of '79, which, with five members present, was the largest class present outside of recent graduates. This is a testament to the bond we all share and the strength of our brotherhood. Homecoming Weekend saw another great meal prepared by our kitchen crew. This year's meal was led by Chris Litvin '05 and Jeff Catalano '09, with many helpers ensuring that the meal went off without a hitch. I would also like to thank the undergraduate chapter for hosting another excellent Homecoming, with special thanks to chapter President Arjun Bhall '20, Alumni Relations Chairman Ethan Blum '21, and Justin Kim '20 for welcoming alumni and their families to the Shelter. HOUSE CORPORATION UPDATES The annual House Corporation meeting held during Homecoming weekend provided updates to all Beta Omicron Delts on the past year. We successfully completed our renovation project bringing the Shelter up to current code requirements and we received a certificate of occupancy from the City of Ithaca. This project saw the replacement of all bedroom doors, as well as other key egress doors, and the addition of new handrails to the front steps. This was completed on time and under budget, firsts for recent projects. Beta Omicron officially launched our alumni career mentoring program and paired the first round of undergraduates and alumni mentors together. If you are interested, please visit our website (www.cornelldelts.org) or email Jeff Catalano '09 at jpcatalano@gmail.com. CHAPTER ON STRONG FINANCIAL FOOTING Financially, we are still in a strong position despite a large expenditure for the renovation work. This is thanks to increased donations and a surplus in the active members' operating budget that was placed into the facility reserve. Beta Omicron inducted 24 young men into the brotherhood between fall of 2018 and fall of 2019. This continued growing our chapter and should be applauded as it is vital to our success at Cornell. THANK YOU, JEFF Lastly, I would like to send many thanks to Jeff Alfano '13 for serving the last five years as our board's vice president. Jeff stepped down from his role allowing others to serve and for him to spend more time with his fiancée Anna Salvagno, sister of Rich Salvagno '13 and John Salvagno '16. Jeff tirelessly helped to ensure our Shelter improvement projects were managed well and came in on time and budget, while also serving as the liaison to the active members. We wish Jeff the best and would like to welcome Luke Zabinski '16 as our new vice president. I've written in past articles about my excitement for the future of Beta Omicron, and that excitement has not waned. The undergraduate chapter is strong, financially stable, and increasing involvement on campus. Alumni are showing their support in unprecedented numbers by supporting financially and attending annual events. We are in a position to use next year's 130th Homecoming on The Hill to springboard into the next 130 years as a leader at Cornell, setting the standard for other Greek organizations. I hope I can count on each of you to help continue our legacy so that we will always have a home at Cornell. Fraternally, Graham Seward '07 President, House Corporation
