3 California Gamma Committed to philanthropiC ServiCe More Than $24,000 Raised Since Spring 2019 Semester T ime is flying by at USC Pi Beta Phi. We are well into our fall semester and we've already accomplished so much as a chapter. Thousands Raised for Philanthropy On September 27, Pi Beta Phi hosted its annual philanthropic event, Arrowspike. Vice President Philanthropy Sydney Robles '17 organized the volleyball tournament to be hosted at Sigma Chi along with various food trucks, including an Italian Ice Truck, which was a huge hit. Fraternities could enter to play in the tournament with entry fees supporting Read > Lead > AchieveĀ®. So far, California Gamma has raised over $10,000 this semester, over $24,000 for all of 2019! Striving to Strengthen the Sisterhood With many of our members abroad in the spring, we want to ensure we planned various sisterhood events this semester so they could meet the spring 2019 new member class. On October 3, Vice President Membership Mia Bettino '17, along with her sisterhood chairmen, planned an event at the Rooftop Cinema Club. Thirty California Gammas spent the night watching Mean Girls on a beautiful Los Angeles evening. Planning for Spring Recruitment Since we no longer have formal recruitment, it means we can spend more time preparing for recruitment in the spring. Mia Bettino led various meetings for our first-time recruiters, bringing in our seasoned seniors to teach them our Pi Phi songs. We can't wait to welcome a new class in the spring. Celebrating Academic Success On November 4, Pi Beta Phi hosted our biannual Scholarship Dinner. California Gamma members had an opportunity to invite a professor who helped us celebrate all our intelligent Pi Phis. Last semester, we were ranked above the all-Greek, all-women, and all-undergraduate GPAs! Proud to Be a Pi Phi As you can tell, Pi Beta Phi at USC has had a fabulous semester so far. I am so proud of all our accomplished Pi Phis, and I can't wait to see what a new executive board will do in the spring under the newly approved organizational structure.
